Anyone running 5100s with 888 coils on the 1st notch up (Notch 2)?

I presently have 5100’s set at zero lift (Notch 1), with 888 coils. I have a winch and steel stub bumper. I started out with just under 2” of lift, but have sagged about 1/2” and would like to get that height back, without buying new stuff. Overall I’m pretty happy with the ride and wouldn’t even mind if it stiffened up a bit.

I read conflicting information on here about setting the 5100’s above Notch 1 with OME coils. I was hoping someone here has done this and could confirm whether it is a problem or not.

Has anyone run 888 coils with 5100’s up one notch?

I've run then on 3 left and 4 right but rides rough so you should be fine at 1 but I wouldn't go any higher!

Wasn't this something that was not recommended and advised against?

There seems to be some info out there that it might bind the coils, but no one who actually had that happen, then there’s quite a few people who have done it with no issues.

Im only thinking of going up one notch, which is less than 1/4”more compression than full extension on the coils. I’m thinking it will be fine. I’ll let you know if it isn’t. I’m ok with a little more preload as I feel the front could be stiffened up some.

OP, curious if you have an update on this? I've been running 5100/888 combo on the bottom notch with a winch and it has definitely settled some since install. Now I'm getting ready to install a hybrid bumper and was debating on trying to go up a notch or two.

So to answer my own question, I went up one notch from the very bottom setting to the next one up (these are the 3rd gen 5100s that have 5 possible settings). I went from ‘Stock’ to ‘0.65” lift’ per Bilsteins guide, keeping in mind the 888’s are already longer springs that add lift beyond what Bilsteins chart describes.

Ride quality has not suffered at all and no spring binding on some reasonably rough trails. I regained the 1/2” sag I lost from the initial install and all is well.

Will report if any issues, but don’t anticipate any.

How has it held up thus far? I’m thinking of doing the same w/ my 5100/888 combo. Currently at the lowest setting but looking to go up a notch or swap the 888 with the 886 coils. This sag is killing me

I didn't go up a notch, but I ordered a 1/2" spacer for the driver side and swapped the 1/4 taco lean spacer to the passenger side and its pretty level again. Put that in this weekend and looks pretty solid now.

It’s held up fine. After the initial sag at the lowest notch, I have detected no more since going up an notch. Rides fine. No clunks or spring binding or any other issues with anything since the change.
