For the last several years I've been running Michelin LTX AT2 tires. The size is 31x10.5x15. To me, they are smooth-running, quiet, and they provide plenty of traction when I go off-road. To me, "off-road" means little-used forest roads in southeast Utah and central east Nevada.

The truck came new with Goodyear GSA tires and I never could get them balanced correctly. There was always some vibration between 65 and 75 MPH. I replaced them with Bridgestone Desert Dueler Revo I and Revo II, but only got around 30,000 miles out of those. On my earlier truck I had Goodrich AT tires but out of 8 of them, one could not be balanced and had to be replaced. IMO, all of them were noiser, had a less comfortable ride, and did not handle as well around curves as Michelin. Off-road they all handled about the same, so no complaints there.

The road leading to the campsite at Millard Campground in Canyonlands and the one leading to Mt. Moriah in eastern Nevada were by far the worst roads I have ever travelled

It's time to replace my tires but I'm having trouble finding LTX AT2 tires. Michelin does offer LTX tires but only in a less aggressive, more street-friendly tread than the AT2 tires. I was thinking of Hankook tires but I don't know. Has anyone here gone from Michelin LTX AT2 tires to ones of a different manufacturer and if so, what is your opinion of the different tires?

Hankook Dynapro's are amazing. Better than all the other tires you posted IMO, tho I have not had first hand experience with those Michelin's. I know Michelin makes badass track tires, but so does Hankook so...

I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
I would stay away from BFG KO2's...Not made the same as five years ago

The Goodyear Kelly Edge HT seem to be in the ballpark for what you're looking for. :notsure: I just got some of the Workhorse ATs and I really like them so far- but time will tell.

After 2 sets of Michelin LTX AT2s, I swapped to the Cooper Discoverer ATP. The tire had very good ratings & has performed very well for me over the past 5-6 years. I offroad a lot here in MS and the Cooper ATPs do fine until the mud gets deep. Then the Buckshot mud tires go on the Taco.

EDIT: Also had a set of 1st gen Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO tires. They were great but just a little noisy. IIRC, Bridgestone changed the tire/thread to quiet them down which detracted from off-road performance.

I've had 4 sets of Hankook-pathfinder ATM tires,
    31x10.5x15
IMO they are fantastic, every set I've gotten 75k miles plus per set,
I have had the Michelin tires and they are great too but the Hankook I like the deeper tread.
I bought BFG KO2 tires 2 months ago and was very disappointed,
4 times and still couldn't get them balanced and super stiff tire and handling was just ok.
I returned them and went back to the pathfinder tires ATM style,
Make sure they are road forced balanced

Have you looked at the BF Goodrich Trail Terrain T/A? Designed to be more streetable than the All Terrain but still with some off/unimproved road capability. Staying in the broad Michelin family.

I may put Trail Terrain T/As on my Lexus RX before winter.

I ran Mich Ltx ms 2 for 300,000 miles with big for a around 12,000miles. Never left me stranded in the snow or on the trail even tho they aren’t very aggressive. They def did the job. We’re quite on my daily commute 110 miles each day and lasted very long with minimal cupping/noise. Once my new tundra needs tires they will go on. Our storms in northern jersey are bad when we get them and never left
    Me stuck.

I have been using the Michelin LTX M/S for many years on a Ford Ranger with 31's and my 4runner. I have never once had an issue and after 4 sets of tires I never got less than 102,000 miles with a high of 110,000 miles. I love everything about them, but wish they looked a little more aggresive. Picking up a Taco in 3 days and not sure what tires will go on them yet.

Looking thru the Amazon tire comparison website I could only find two Toyo mentions. One was for an Open Country M/T All Season and the other was for an "OPAT 3".
    1. What kind of Toyo tires do you have?

    2. Are the corners of the Toyo tires rounded like on a passenger tire or are they "blocky" (the corners of my Michelins are rounded and therefore rather quiet).

    3. Are your Toyo tires noisier than the Michelin LTX M/S?

    4. And you do mean Michelin Defender LTX All Season tires rather than the LTX A/T2 tires, right?

I had that same tire until last year switched to cooper discover at3s.. Very quiet and good moderate offroad grip... I think they look cool too

I just got a new set of the BF Goodrich Trail-Terrains put on yesterday to replace my worn BFG All-terrain KO2's. I bought both sets at Costco when they had a $110 off discount. I never got a flat with the KO2's in about 60K miles of use over six years. Costco didn't have the KO2's in stock, so I got the Trail-Terrains since they also have the 3 Peaks Mountain Snowflake emblem, which allows me to not put on chains when they are required going over the pass in the winter. So far I notice that the Trail-Terrains ride much smoother at freeway speeds, and my steering wheel isn't shaking as much.

Don't know if it helps but I ran Michelin LTX MS on a chevy and toyota. Great tires, great ride with 70k+ on a set but would spin on wet grass. Switched both trucks to BFG all terrain K02s at same time. Chevy has 50k on them, toyota 6-7k. Road noise hasn't been an issue yet and can't tell much difference in handling. Can now do in 2 wheel what I used to have to do in 4wd. Looked at a bunch of tires and the BFGs were where I landed on price, reported wear and tread style. Happy with them.
