I have a 21 TRD Sport with Michelin Defender LTX tires. Door jam says 29 or 30, which seems low. Dealer sets them at 36 after a service. I've been running 32psi cold, and find they rise 4psi after warmed up. So what do you guys recommend for overall ride quality and good tire wear?

I have Michelin Defenders too. Been running 35 psi cold. Seems to be wearing evenly. I don’t experiment much with ride quality. Ran 35 psi on the factory Toyo tires which seemed to wear well.

    I doubt it’s 100% nitrogen there though

I use the chalk test on my tires, to determine the best psi to run them at on the street.

    Google it.

Too many variables to say what one optimal pressure could be, 34 for me on my 285 E loads and my super heavy truck may be way too hard for someone's stock truck.

The chalk test as @blu92in99 said is the best way to get a good estimate for your unique case.

    If it's a Sport, it's 29...
Why do you feel this is low?

There's a reason Toyota recommends 29 on a Sport, 30 on an Offroad, 32 on an SR, etc. It's because PSI is just a means to an end; inflated load capacity. It's what they have determined to be optimal from 'empty' all the way up to GVWR; afterall, it is a truck. It could be argued if you don't use or anticipate using GVWR you could get by with less PSI and therefore less inflated load capacity.
Toyota wants you to inflate to a load capacity of 2,147-2,172 lbs for P and euro metric tires. This translates to 1,954 lbs for LTs.
So, if using P or euro metric tires, Toyota wants you to have a total inflated load capacity of about 8,600 lbs; 3,000 lbs over GVWR or about 150% of GVWR. When put that way it, seems like a lot; unless you consider dynamic loading, as Toyota has.

My idea of optimum is based off the tire placard and would so reflect in my recommendation.
I would need to know if you have changed tire size and/or load rating.

I got 41,000 miles on my original Toyo A30s, they wore quite evenly at 29 psi cold.
Truck is stock, the only extra is a bed mat, all driving on pavement.

I live at high altitude (6,500 +) and both Discount Tire and the dealership set at 38 -40 psi for factory size tires.

I run what the engineers at Toyota recommend. They, hopefully, know a lot about this. See your door frame sticker.

When towing/hauling, I go to 35-40 and no more then the recommended psi on my specific tires.

I run at 40 psi when cruising on the street. Then I’ll air down going off road. Probably not the most cushy ride, but it’s smooth, probably better fuel economy, and I like the look of the tires when inflated to 40 (truck looks/is higher lol)

Stock 2019 sport I finally got around the checking and 3 were at 26psi and 1 was 27 and no low tire pressure warning.
