Curious as to why he didn’t get a light on the ground wire?
Could there be a chance he has a power on the Ground wire?
It’s not likely, but I’d make sure the test light works. As in fore sure a good ground.

I think he was testing at the ECU and not at the actuators but yes absolutely make sure your test light works, remember OP you need the ground end of your test light connected to battery Positive for this test to be valid. You can check that your light woks by touching it to any ground, it should light up.

Ahh, ok. I was think he was checking the actuator plug since that was the picture he posted just below his results.

So should I start looking at wires to see if any are bare and check the ground behind the cylinder head. Its difficult to get at but I will try to get my hands on it

Like a dummy I had the test light grounded rather than having connected to pos terminal. Once i corrected this it lit up on black and white wire

I'm assuming your referring to the DM2 wire?
    DM2.jpg

I wouldn't worry about the ground, you need to find where the wire is shorted, the easiest method I've found is since it will light up a test light leave your light connected where you can see it and start following the harness and wiggling it gently until you see the light start flickering to narrow it down.

Yes that is the wire on the ecu. Now the fun begins i suppose. Undoing all of that wire loom and factory tape that is like bubblegum

Just leave them unplugged and do like I said with a test light till you narrow down your short.
Look for spots where the harness is rubbing on something, near something hot, or melted.

I was down under the glove box tracing that fire when the plug to the blower motor looked brown. I unplugged it and the test light lit when I individually touched each of the wires from the plug20220811_075610.jpg

There still has to be a bad ground elsewhere. I repaired the wire and the plug at the ECU is still showing hot with a test light

OP, just be very careful what you touch with the test light hooked to any positive source. They call this the "hot" side for a reason. In most cases - but not this one - you want to hook the test light to the ground side because you're looking for the hot side. In this case, you're looking for a ground.

The blower plug and the 4wd system have nothing to do with each other, you need to find where DM2 wire is shorted. It's most likely going to be on the outside of the truck somewhere where a harness is rubbing on something.
