A regular question I receive at work and out and about is… “is there a good place to go for an easy 4x4’g experience”?

The question I pose here is… in the Lower Mainland or very close to it… where can one take a pretty stock vehicle for some fun without it being too technical.

Any local ideas to pass along?

hmm I usually go up chilliwack lake road, enter just after Ford Mountain Corrections Facility; come down bench; turn onto Elkview and exit off Prest. super simple FSR drive. through that route there is a few places you can try within the FSR, most are hard to access if your vehicle like mines is stock.

enterance off of chilliwack lake rd. one turn past Ford Mountain Correctional Facility.jpg
    bench; elkview; exit on prest.jpg

when you use your map and google you can view it better; as you zoom out roads disappear etc not sure if this counts as "wheeling" but it is a start

    Chehalis Lake area.

Stave Lake, not the mud flats... there are lots of trails to explore above the lake.

West Harrison area, enter behind the Sasquatch Inn. So many trails up there you could get lost. Stay on the main FRS and you come out east of Pemberton.

East Harrison, another vast network of trails. Enter at the fork in the FSR to Sasquatch Provincial Park North East of Harrison Hot Springs.

Is there anywhere nice to camp up there? Is Widow's Peak accessible by truck?

It's usually a gong show just like going to North Chehalis through west Harrison way to busy.

Lately it’s been great to be honest. I’m surprised how few people I see there.

I was there on may long though and chehalis lake beach looked like music festival. People were camping like 8 feet apart haha.

The Stawamus/Indian Arm FSR in Squamish is a nice little day trip from Van. There are also a few small camp spots at the end of the road if you wanted to make a overnight of it as well. The side road up to Norton Lake is fun but I have not been up there in a few years so it could be overgrown and washed out.

Stock friendly for sure! Does get a lot of snow in the winter so definitely is a summer/early fall drive.
