I've tried the ECT mode in my truck once. Really no use for it unless heavy towing. It made the engine sound louder, longer shift points, and suck more gas like my old v8 tundra. I haven't tried it again since.

My kids are all lactose intolerant. I feed them cheese fondue daily and collect the methane which I sequester and bill power companies for tax credits. Because I have 19 children I earn thousands a month squirreled away in corporate tax avoidance schemes approved by congress.

Despite all that, I run regular because I understand physics.

think the hamsters powering the 3.5 like the veggie oil as fuel, mix some hay in too.

I always understood that to be the octane used to get their numbers listed.

think what you want but my truck gear hunts and runs at reduced power on 87 vs. 91. especially in the summer with a/c cranking.

research octane is different than pump octane... 5 seconds here explains it:

    https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/gasoline/octane-in-depth.php

and the formula is even on the pump buttons...

with that said, who gives a shit, if you want to put in 93.. go for it.

With my truck being heavy and seeing best mpgs with 92 octane, truck drives better . When truck was new I broke it in on 87octane for 10,000 mi after that nothing but premium fuel. Every now and then I'll run a couple tanks of 87 octane to remind me how crappy my truck performs on lowest grade of unleaded .

I've not noticed any difference if using 89 vs 87, its when i try 92-93 octane grade my begins to pig out after a few miles. You could see the change in the tailpipe tip with a black sooty appearance. Truck feels sluggish with the transmission hunting. Been running on 87 the best whether towing or not.

The big question I have as potential new Tacoma owner is.

    Hyoid or non-hypoid blinker fluid?
