Wondering what others have done. I'm going to be replacing my front bumper with a real one, and thinking over the fog light wiring possibilities. Wondering what others did and why they did it that way:

    1. wire them into the factory harness so they work exactly the same as stock using the same twister on the left of the steering column, with the same limitations of when they can be enabled

    2. wire them in on a separate switch so you can control when they are turned on and off regardless of the headlight switch positions, but then they do not turn off automagically when you turn off the truck and walk away

If you leave the factory fog light harness open does it throw a cel? Is there a way to tap into the "auto-turn-off" circuit to control them? Thanks for any useful comments!

Added Squadrons and wired them to run as driving lights. Relay is powered by the hi-beam circuit and CH4x4 switch on the dash.

Fog lights already are wired to a separate switch than the headlight stalk? Not sure what you're asking with the first option.

That said, I kept mine on the same, separate switch wired in the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. However, they can be turned on and off whenever, whether the truck is turned on or not, or keys are in/not

EDIT: just realized this is the 3rd gen forum so maybe it's different for you guys.

The easiest way is to have the added lights (relay controlled) tapped into the parking lights/dash circuit. Like the OEM fogs, they don't function on their own, they require the parking lights to be selected.
Or if you have LED DRL on your Taco's headlights, @daveeasa can sell you the same gadget he has for the grill lights. This can do dual work, if you also have or want the grill lights. From there only one wire from the engine room bay to the cab to activate the added lights via a switch.

For fellas that have the OEM LED Headlights:

Is the wiring in the diagrams the same for manual?
