I am leaning towards selling my 2019 Tacoma SR5 because I am very disappointed with the small issues so far with less than 50K miles. Today I found this insert sticking out from my dashboard (see pictures). I also have that mildew dropping from the passenger side floor and the mildew smell. I already got the recall done for the brake lights to be replaced for a better water seal. Toyota has been contacted. Just venting. Quality is not the same anymore. I have a 2003 4Runner SR5 with none of the issues I mentioned above and my 4Runner is still running like a brand new vehicle. Maybe because it is Made in Japan. I am thinking of replacing my Tacoma with a truck that was Made in Texas. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Be safe and stay healthy everyone.

Why do people think quality differs from plant to plant or country?
    It does not differ.

How is anything he said racist? He is concerned about build quality due to where it was built. Like it or not, that can certainly be a fact. I honestly believe Toyota's training and QA is good enough to ensure this is not a concern but then again, who knows. My boss had a Germany built Mercedes-Benz and a Mexico built Mercedes-Benz, I'll let you guess which one was the piece of shit...

My 3 Tacomas, 1 made in San Antonio, 2 made in Mexico

The one that gave me the most problem was made in San Antonio, door striker misaligned, transfer case seal weeping.

I don't think I have enough sample size to conclude anything meaningful, just luck of the draw.
Hence, I don't think buying anything made in Texas would make a difference, the only Toyota truck you can buy right now made in Texas is the new Tundra, which is another can of worm to be opened.

I have owned two recent new Mercedes-Benz. One built in Germany had amazing fit and finish, exceeding Lexus quality, zero issues - should have never sold. The next one was larger more expensive model built in USA. It had Toyota level fit and finish, with numerous mechanical issues including a failed transmission under 50K miles. I would never consider purchasing another Mercedes that wasn’t built in Germany.

That foam piece popped out after 3 years and 50k miles?

All new Tacos are made in the two plants in Mexico now. If you want a Texas-built truck, you'd have to look for a used one or buy a Tundra, which is suffering from first-year quality issues: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/...e-build-quality-of-his-new-truck-179184.html#

‘05 Tacoma, built in California, 90k miles no problems

‘13 4runner, built in Japan, 90k miles no problems

‘20 Tacoma, built in Mexico, 24k miles so far, no problems

I also had a ‘99 Tahoe 2dr built in Mexico, 100k miles, had to replace the intake manifold gasket. Sold it to a friend who has put another 100k miles on it… replaced the steering box and idler arm….no big deal.. I don’t have an issue with Mexico made vehicles…
