    Hi TW,

Don't judge me, but newer to the DIY world. Doing the best I can to learn, and I'm I'm performing gear oil flu changes today.

I've completed the rear diff, which is obviously easy, however, in looking at the transfer case, it looks like it's connected to the transmission.

I'd like to change the transfer case fluid, and I know in my 2008 Gen 2 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 2.7 L engine, it should take about 1.1L of 75-W90 GL-4 gear oil.

I've looked through all the videos and "how To's" on this website, and I'm assuming I won't be draining any transmission fluid, when I unscrew the transfer case drain plug. Is this correct? It's just deceiving since it looks like the transfer case is connected to the transmission.

Again, I know this is a new question, but if somebody can just weigh in on this, I appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance!

    They are separate units.
You will only be draining the transfer case.
The Transmission fluid will stay in the Transmission.
