    Long time listener...first time caller.

I've owned a couple Toyota trucks when I was younger - small truck (~ 93?) and a ~98 4x4 Tacoma. Small kids, etc...I went the way of SUV, MiniVan, etc...but now in my 50s, ready to get back into a Tacoma, preferably a 4DR TRD OR trim. I'm really liking the Army Green color, but I'm flexible. Probably not the best time to be in the market, but I'm ready to pull the trigger.

A couple of buddies of mine have 10+ year old TRD Sports which do seem competent with the driving I plan to do (90% commute and 10% OR). While the conception of San Diego is cool weather and sunny beaches, there is a lot of good off-roading nearby.

I started the journey earlier this week going through Costco whom pointed me to a local dealer and it seems like what I want is in short supply and it's just a waiting game. I guess the Costco rep (fleet manager) contacted me and told me he'd put me on his list. There was only one dealer who works with Costco....there are probably ~10 other dealers in town. I've read online many dealers are jacking the prices above MSRP. Sigh. Just like anyone else, I want to get a fair deal.

So here I am looking for insight on how some other locals were able to get the model/trim they wanted and perhaps the good and bad learning experiences encountered.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the welcomes.

Update: Was able to get pretty much what I wanted for MSRP @ Larry Miller Toyota in Lemon Grove (suburb near San Diego). It happened quick but all is good!
