    Hi everyone,
I have a 2003 Tacoma (called StormTrooper). Catalytic converters are being stolen left and right in CLT, NC. I can’t find anywhere (even Rock Auto and Amazon) for a catalytic converter shield that’ll work for a 2003, they create them for newer models. I read Genesis’s Cat Converter shield is great but they don’t have one for a 2003. I’ve searched forums but to no success. Do you have any suggestions? Do l need to create my own?

They are simple to make and fab shop that wants the job can make you one.

Just know any shield that is not completely welded making it hard for the owner to remove will only slow the pro thief down another minute or 2. It will perhaps discourage the amateur out trying to raise gas money.

In most places like this no one pays attention to car alarms. Police only respond to explosions and automatic weapons fire.

Park inside or move are the best options but not practical most times.

    Good luck!!

I'd look into covering that area with a skid plate. I've seen some 1st gens get the "cat clamp".

    4 run, 2 don't
Older vehicles aren't specifically targeted, due to the age and wear on an old catalytic converter (though it does happen unfortunately).

These trucks are old and discontinued so you're not likely to find much support unless someone took it upon themselves to make one.

If I had a first gen near me, I'd happily attempt to make one...hell make a jig after the first 2 or 3 really.

If you really wanted to you would have all the dimensions by 1700 Monday.
