I am in the unfortunate position to where I will have to live out of my truck soon. I have a 04 Ext Cab Tacoma.

What are some truck tents that will fit? Preferably something that doesn't draw attention, and is easy to pack/set up. I still have a job so I will need to go to pack it up and drive to work each morning.

I bought the recommended Rightline Truck Tent however it ended up being too short. I dont want to make the same mistake again as I am running out of time.

A truck tent will draw attention. Campershell, even the wrong color, will stand out much less.

I use a kodiak canvas truck tent for my big truck, not sure if they are made for tacomas. But its a high quality product with nice zippers

Softopper might be good- it can open and close, stash away. Check CL or the like used ones come up. Id get a tan one for heat issues if camping regularly..

and hey, I hope things improve. This can be a time to reset and simplify, while being grateful for what you do have. You’ll get through it !

Hi everyone, thanks for the suggestions. I just wanted to update this post and say the full size Napier Truck Tent works great. I paired that with a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, JACKER camping battery, and a gym membership, and I actually have a better quality of life now than I did in my apartment. I figured I would post this in case anybody in the future finds themself in a similar predicament.

On another note, I think I may have to sell my truck within the next month or so. Does anybody know where it is appropriate for me to post a thread to get a good appraisal? And/or if the mods are willing to be lenient on the 50 post rule?

I really need money so I need to make sure I get as much as I can. But I also dont want to make an ass out of myself for asking a ridiculous price, posting where I shouldn't, or for breaking the rules.

Mods arent very lenient on the BST stuff. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/buy-sell-trade-rules-rev-2019.2577/

Check autotrader, craigslist, KBB or even ebay to find a comparable market value for your truck. GLWS and good luck with your situation..

Thanks for letting me know about the BST stuff. I love my truck but I have never been a car guy. I dont want to waste peoples time by making stupid posts just to hit the 50 post limit.

And I was hoping to get feedback from people on here if possible. I was out of the USA from 2020 until May this year, so I have had a huge culture shock coming back to see how crazy the market is (among many other things)... it makes me feel super out of touch.

    For example I have a: 2004 Xtra Cab SR5, V6 4WD w/ a Class III hitch and 163k miles. Toyota did a frame swap in 2018.

First off, it is hard for me to find a vehicle matching those specs, and even if I do, how do I account for the value that comes from the frame swap?

Second off, the prices im seeing for anything similar are hard to believe. Like in the link above, I see trucks listed for $19k!?!?!
