Question for you. Does the 1/4" drain saddle hole really not leak once the tubing is in there? Seems like a weird design that would be prone to leaking

You know, the more I think about this the less I think that I need a plumber. It looks like the

$76 Rinnai MIVK-T-LW Matsui Plumbing Isolation Valve Kit,

valve assemblies are all screw on and that will make the pretty easy to replace. Anything I need to know before I try it myself?

 

Know where your main shut off valve is, and that's really it.

Get yourself plenty of that plumber's tape as you'll want it for the new ball valve assemblies.

And buckets, even if you relieve pressure by turning on faucets or running the toilet, you'll still have water in those lines you'll want to catch.

 

Yup I found that and tested it yesterday.

 

you might have to cut the pvc pipe and add a coupler at reassembly to disassemble and replace your shut offs

I never added my bit of home improvement recently for the small yard.

I've never done any plumbing and related work with the exception of replacing a water heater or replacing laundry water hoses.

Being summer (and how hot it gets here) we decided to let the grass we had left to die off and focus on running a sprinkler system.

You can rent one of those trenchers at Home Depot for pretty cheap, just make sure to hose it off clean so you don't get charged extra.

Here's our yard with trenching done. Rather than have the entire area covered in grass, we expect to have only half of it covered with grass (for the dogs) and the rest an extension of our covered patio.



Had bought about seven 10' long pieces of PVC schedule 40 pipe. Originally I intended to run four sprinkler heads (one at each corner) but based on the small size and range of coverage, three would provide plenty of overlap and saturation.



Fortunate enough to not live in an area where freezing temps are a concern; all this stuff can remain exposed outside. Removed the fixture and ran a T for my water source. Just below that, a ball valve so I can shut it off at the source in case a leak developed or my timer failed.





What's funny is, I never intended to buy this timer but so far it's been freaking awesome! Got it at Lowe's for $10 cause it was on clearance.

Works via bluetooth using their app, but has memory so you can set a routine watering schedule and more. Also got the first part of the water line setup going.



Was about 110 degrees when I was setting this up, had nothing better to do. Was laying out the pvc pipe to get an idea of measurements and all.

Working around the drainage, though the sprinkler pipe is sitting above in this picture I ran it below as I didn't want the weight of the dirt affecting the pipe long term.

I'm sure there are better ways but, it was my first time.

Yep, they were good! Fortunately cause it's all getting cemented together, none of it with the exception of the sprinkler hoses and bodies are threaded.



Let there be water! Oh and it may be hard to see but, there is a sprinkler straight ahead providing overlapping coverage in a 180 degree fashion.

All three sprinkler heads are 180 degree.



Criticisms welcome, first time ever doing a sprinkler system!

 

Because shut off valves, adapters, are not all the same size or length, etc.

 

that threaded pvc adapter that goes into that brass tee was likely installed , then the shut offs screwed into the unit , then the pipe glued on . Just saying you may not be able to disassemble everything by unthreading it , in case you needed to get some pvc fittings and glue etc

 

Looks like a G25 LED to me. Wattage might not be 60, though.

Don't forget to get some different nipples to replace the galvanized ones.

 

Kill power, gas, and water pressure obviously. Id teflon tape any threads

I see what you mean. I think I can unscrew the top and bottom of the valve assembly, then get enough room to unscrew one of the two connections on the relief valve. I'll keep the hacksaw handy as a plan B.

Absolutely! I'm hoping they sell brass or PVC ones at Lowe's.
