I’ve always been interested in this. Back in 2011, we attempted this in my 2007 2WD Tacoma Prerunner. Huge, huge mistake!! A few miles in, the conditions grew worse, I decided to turn around and go back to High Island. I turned around on what LOOKED like packed sand, and promptly buried my truck. I felt like a total complete idiot!

So there we were, out in the middle of nowhere, stuck. My lady friend was in a much better mood, than I was. She laughed, grabbed us a couple of drinks from the cooler, and said “someone in a 4X4 will come along and pull us out, soon.

Well, fortunately, she was right. A really nice guy, in a Jeep Wrangler, came along. He was scratching his head and said “I’ve been driving these beaches for a long time and I’ve never seen a Tacoma get stuck”. He didn’t realize my truck wasn’t a 4X4. In reality, he had never seen anyone that was dumb enough to attempt that drive in a 2WD, until that day. When I told him my truck wasn’t a 4X4, he understood the problem.

To make a long story short, the guy was kind enough to pull me out. Now that I have a 4WD, 4Runner, I might make a second attempt.

Wonder how long that suburban has been out there. Going to be fun to remove.
