i want to start this off by saying im not a car mechanic guy. i have a 2006 toyota tacoma prerunner 4x2 no dif lock. there was a whine that follows the rpm and i took it to a shop and they said i need a new rear end. my truck is completely stock and i called toyota dealership they said i have a 4.10 ratio. i call the salvage yard and they said i had a 3.73 ratio . so now im lost is there a way to find it on the carrier assembly? also does ratio make that big of a difference cause i seen some 3.58 that were cheaper. thanks for any help

I believe you are correct but isn't that just for automatics? I thought the manuals had 4.10's

Pretty sure the the gear ratio is the same for both.
The Automatic actually has a higher over all OD.
So it would benefit more from a LOWER gear. (As in 4.10)

Any ways. No to confuse OP. I am about 99% sure they are 3.73 for both transmission with the 4.0

I just searched it quick and I was wrong... The 6lugs with I4's have 4.10s where all V6 6lugs have 3.73s

Actually I need to correct myself. (Before someone else does)
The XRunner got a totally different gear ratio. But that doesn’t apply to OP

@TnShooter thanks for that link it made it quick and easy and was right about 3.73 .
the dealer was way off on the 4.10.
now the salvage yard can rob me they want 1.3k but it will all work out.
