This won't be my everyday driver but I still want to keep from putting unneeded stress on it so a 3 inch lift with 285s sounds perfect. Thanks for all the advice and ball busting lol.

Dude. Before you do ANYTHING: Go wheel it stock. These rigs are seriously capable out of the box and I had my '21 DCSB TRD Sport w/ stock Toyo A30s in some serious terrain. If the money is burning a hole in your pocket, investigate one of the many tunes available for your Taco and invest in that. You cannot go wrong with a solid tune.

    My thoughts:
    1. Tune
    2. Gears (gear for the future - what you plan to run) + Lockers if you plan to go with lockers (save $$$ doing the gears along with the lockers in the same shot)
    3. Aux trans cooler if you are an auto trans and you plan to wheel / crawl in the desert
    4. Suspension Upgrades - check out Dobinsons, ARB/OME, and if you want to shell out $$$ check out the King 3.0s
    5. Tire & Wheel

How much do you care about some scars from the trails? If not at all, I would suggest testing the trucks limitations and go from there. See what it can and can't do and then you'll have an idea of what you'll need to do to the truck. Right now it seems like you just want to mod your truck without even knowing what it can do or what it needs for where you want to wheel

To be 100% honest I don't care for the look of a stock tacoma, a lift and tires make a truck look awesome to me so that's alot of the reason I'm so set on doing so.

    Work in progress...
Long as I enjoy the ride, what do I care about lift or dick size. Either way I am just happy to be exploring the tail...uh trail.

I think it’s reasonable to mod based on appearance. Not sure why so many people on here bash that logic. It’s not like anyone is trying to take your money.

I have to admit that TW ruined me on people who mod for appearance.

On one hand, its your truck, if it makes you smile, more power to you. 90% of my mods are for that exact reason. :anonymous::anonymous:

On the other, we get so many people here that are so excited to put Tonka tires on their truck that the kit arrives at their front door before they even sign their name to the finance sheet. Then three months later they get on here and troll endlessly about how the truck drives like shit.

Nah man, you played yourself. ...I'm just here to give fair warning that you are about to play yourself, so please don't start complaining in three months. :cookiemonster::cookiemonster:

I hear you. I think it's part of the TW culture to ball bust, but some go overboard or are serious. Still, most of us are too ashamed to admit that our trucks are in fact mall crawlers 90% of the time. If we are driving them, they are utility trucks even if we aren't rock crawling or hauling lumber. Much like I dress up for a party or work, I do that to feel good about myself. Modding my truck is no different. A byproduct of that is that one got me my wife, the other can get me unstuck.

I hear ya, Im too old (50s) to take someone's ball busting on here seriously lol, I'm just looking to build up my 1st Tacoma so it looks good and can enjoy taking it offroad, I'm just looking to replace my 36 year run of racing motocross with a sport that doesnt beat my body as much but will also give you that needed rush.

In that case, go big or go home! Go to a 4x4 shop or two to see what they recommend for what you’re trying to accomplish.
