How many people here would buy a new land cruiser pickup over a new tacoma if it was an option?

Thank goodness they aren't offered here. Can you imagine the screaming pleebs on the LCPU forum?

You'd never hear the end of why a 228 HP solid axle feels like a POS dog on the freeway, and howcome I get such shit MPGs at 80 mph? My Elantra didn't suck this bad.

Also, why is there no back-up cam or BSM? Its a $46,000 truck, for that price I expected a leather wrapped butler!??!

We are sadly not built for it here, although that thing is built to what so many guys on this forum build their rigs to be. Darn those archaic import laws. It would be a badass rig that about 80% of Tacoma owners (who don't have accounts on TW) would simply shake their heads at. Cue the Joaquin Phoenix meme... "You wouldn't get it."

If the LC70 was offered in the US the same as overseas, then I would definitely buy one.

We can BARELY handle the US Tacoma. Consumer Reports takes a soft dook on it every chance they get. Imagine what they'd do to a diesel Hilux! Imagine what they'd do with this old-tech beast!

I'm pretty happy with the truck I have. I wouldn't trade it unless it has reached the end of its life. Now, if this truck was available in the USA and my Tacoma was destroyed/stolen then I would consider it just as I would consider any other vehicle. I don't buy because it looks nice. I buy because it has a great history of lasting a long time and have few if any reliability issues and those issues are easy to fix. If this truck doesn't cut it, it doesn't get considered.

Of course I would. I love an old school LC. The price is almost double what I paid for my SR, but YOLO you know? lol

Also I love that interior. Something about that 1980s Japanese design. Obviously not to everyone's taste, but I think it's cool. It's all about "rule of cool" with the 70 series for me.

    Looks better in grey.

Like the LCs from Toyota of Gibraltar than the UAE. More basic.

3 oh shit handles and 1 cup holder and it looks like a glove box and a dash box (screw the airbag).
Is that an actual ash tray next to the cigarette lighter,.... wow.
If this is a current model this shows how the public still drives the design aspect instead of a desk jockey with grand ideas.

Two screens, wood trim over cheap plastic, practically zero buttons, cigarette lighter with ashtray, and louvered window vents.
That interior is time warped as hell and I love it.

Interior reminds me of my 89 Honda...which I love. However, I will take my Tacoma for my daily.
