Same issue just happened to me this morning. Tried a different key with same result, so that’s not the isssue. I think it’s a fuel problem somewhere. Just gonna admit defeat and take it to a shop.
Very frustrating, only owned the truck a month and off to the shop it goes…

Check Pin 8 (Black/Red) at connector IB1 behind the driver's side kick panel, it powers the fuel pump and some people have had intermittent connections there.

I read your other post about stalling on the freeway, and then not being able to duplicate the issue. That reminded me of an issue that's been happening with my 2013 2.7 A/T Access Cab. I've been having an intermittent issue with my 2013 for over a year now. Your issue seems similar to mine. One thing I've noticed is that during a crank, no start condition, plugging in an OBD scan tool seems to temporarily fix the issue. I believe this has something to do with the ground connection to the PCM, and the OBD tool jumps two ground pins and allows it to function. When you have this issue, does your check engine light come on? If the PCM is powered up and communicating, you should have an illuminated check engine light when the key is on but the engine isn't running. If you turn the key on and the PCM isn't communicating, in my case, there will be no check engine light and instead a traction control indicator lights up. Since yours is an 06, I imagine our instrument clusters look a bit different, but this is what mine looks like when it doesn't want to start. IMG_20220605_155830724.jpg

This is with the key in the ON position and the engine not running. Under normal circumstances, the traction control light wouldn't be on, but the check engine light would.

As much as I'd like to offer a fix to the problem, I still haven't found it yet, but I can tell you if your truck is acting the same as mine, then it's very likely an electrical/ground issue with the PCM. Let me know if any of this applies to your truck, because so far I haven't come across anyone else in this situation.

Sorry for the late reply on this! My check engine light does not come on when the truck wont start. The only time I've gotten a CEL was when it stalled on the freeway. My truck is starting right up today, but I just checked to see what lights are on when I turn the key to the on position and I've got a CEL and a battery light. Not sure if that means anything? Sorry to hear you are having issues, glad I'm not the only one.

It's completely normal for the CEL and battery light to be on when the engine isn't running. Next time it doesn't want to start, see if the check engine light still comes on with the key in the on position. If it doesn't come on and instead you get a traction light, then it's PCM related.

I also want to ask, have you noticed any relation between the truck stalling/not starting and the weather? I've noticed mine seems to act up mostly when it's hot outside. It'll go all winter without much problems, but then act up at least twice a week during the hotter months.

I'm not too far from you then, and let me say, this heat is something else :bananadead:

I noticed mine acting up toward the end of last summer, then it seemingly fixed itself... till it started getting above 100 again this summer
