This is Jolene's last picture taken just before the doctor came in. She was the best girl and we miss her greatly. I've had dogs all of my life but I learned something with Jolene's passing that I was unaware of. Three months ago she began to get weak and unsteady. Eventually one day she collapsed. We took her to the emergency vet. We were told she was critically anemic and it was best to put her to sleep. Almost as an aside the doctor mentioned trying a transfusion. We chose the latter. She responded very well and we had our favorite three months with her. Eventually the anemia began to show again. We took her back in and had discussions about another transfusion. This is when we learned about blood supply and how there isn't enough for every situation. Three days later we were in this room taking this picture. My guess is that there are people reading this that were like us and never knew about the donor process because you have never needed blood before. Please know that your healthy dog has the ability to give another dog such a gift. If you have allowed your dog to be a donor before.. THANK YOU. There are people on the recipient side that are so grateful! Hopefully someone reading this will hear something new and decide to become a donor. It will mean the world to someone else. Not sure how Kilo can run all day…and he is still at it tonight. I logged 4 hours on the tractor today and he was with me every bit of it.

Hiding out in some tall weeds.

Kilo dinner tonight:

Kibble, hamburger cooked in coconut oil, rosemary, steamed vegetables/rice. Now I’m sure he is going to go chomp on a pocket gofer for dessert. Yuk!

Gorgeous dog & house but what in the landslide hell is going on here?

Edit: I thought the stairs were suspended but upon closer inspection maybe the camera angle & dirt coloring just make it look that way?

Thinking it was the camera angle. I have been bringing in 8+ yards of material 3-5 times a day for a while so I can level the back area outside the back patio addition. The dirt does give it sort of an optical illusion. I’m thinking another 42 loads and it should be done.

We are very close. The house is a rebuild after the Black Forest Fire.

Here is what I got from our local blood bank this week. Hope this information helps. We are in the process of seeing if another dog may be a candidate to donate her blood. If she can I will post updates on the process . Again, just coming from the other side of Jolene receiving blood that gave her three amazing months, please know that if your dog can become a donor you will bring soooo much joy to someone's home by giving their dog a second chance.
