    Nope I spent my enlistment at MCAS EL Toro

    El Toro had water contamination from chemicals , solvents and jet fuel that got into the ground water . Also my unit occupied hangar 297 which was the site of a very large plume of TCE / PCE solvents

    Not only that but was also exposed to many toxic burn pit fires from Crash crew training 2x's a month . You could hardly breathe when those training fires were burning

    Today in history. 1969,hurricane camielle came from the gulf. landfall in Mississppi. up the east coast. cat. 5 storm. it hit a strong jet stream cold front over the county across the Blue Ridge (Nelson Co.) from me the storm hung up on the steep,rugged foothills of this county. came at night while most were sleeping. in 5-6 hours it dumped est. 31 inches of rain. destroyed everything in its path as the water rushed off the mtns. these pics are in Davis Creek. i use to hunt there. scares on mtns you can still see. rocks the size of cars still lay in the fields. 132 people died. alot were never found.
