Retrofit DENSO 210-0421 it's a 120 AMP Alternator

    This is my shot at retrofitting a higher amperage alternator into my 1st Gen 2003 Toyota Tacoma. I got a lot info from the forums here. I only went with this one becuase of the same connectors. Ironically it happens to be from a 2003 Jaguar Vanden Plas.

    This is a OEM DENSO 210-0421 Alternator
    The connector is the same , so no need to retrofit that section, but the pulleys are not the same so they have to be swapped from the OEM alternator or just buy a new one like I did with my setup. I got my pulley off fleabay for like $9 and total $12.50 shipped to my door. The alternator was a steal on Amazon for $120 from the amazon wharehouse returns 2nd chance purchase instead of the $250 price, LoL !

    it's the same alternator except his has the ROUND plug & mine has the oem toyota OVAL plug.

    The Jag alt was an upgrade for 1st gen 4Runners/3rd gen pickups back in the day. Thats why the round plug.

    I had my local mechanic swap the pulleys, but he just held it in place with one hand and then used a dewalt battery impact gun/drill on it, came right off ! 123

    Right before the install with a NEW Tacoma pulley. He put a dab of loctite thread lock on it and presto!

    Nice! I never knew there was one with the same plug. I guess the trade off is you have to swap the pulley instead of making a wiring adapter. Cost is probably about the same since you bought a new pulley.

    BTW, thanks to your Amazon list I did it the right way by upgrading the fuse to 120 Amps and the upgraded 4 gauge wires as well, I also did the negative cable as well. Thanks!

    I've also had the grand vitara alternator in my 5vzfe for years, can't remember what the amperage is but it was higher than stock. I also wish I saw a kit for beefed up wiring like posted above, I made my own.
