I don't think anyone expects the V6 to carry over.

It won't for sure, Toyota said that a couple of years ago. I think this will be the engine, I don't expect them to build a different 4cly turbo just for the tacoma/4 runner. At least we will get a year or more of the engine in the Highlander to see any common issues.

Curious if they tune it for the Tacoma/4runner for more torque or HP. I am sure one or both of those numbers will change.

I do like some of the old school technology they put into the new engine, they moved away from a few electrical bits for mechanical etc. And lets hope the turbo is serviceable/replaceable without pulling the engine. It should be, I would think there would be more room under the Tacoma/4 runner hood than the highlander, and you can replace it without engine removal on the Highlander.

It also seems like they are avoiding a few things that caused the Tundra Turbo fiasco all together with this engine, which is also a good thing.

Since the 4th Gen Taco will share the Tundra Platform, l doubt the current 3.5 would even bolt up.

That will be in addition to the Turbo 4 offering...no way they will send out a new tacoma with EV being the only choice.
