Yeah I've seen that cautioned before, roundup is supposed to be safe as it works on a biochemistry that's alien to our own and supposedly it's is ignored if it enters the body but I had that in my mind when doing it.

    *WOO-WOOOO*

What's that? The excuse train is coming?

The yard was the least of my concerns after I bought the house (flash backs to 5' tall Bahia grass) as I had so many other priorities and things were going HAM at work plus the crazy amounts of rain...

In short it really got away from me, beyond the pick a few weeds here and there level and ultimately I just want to go thermal nuclear and kill everything and then I can maintain the pick a few weeds here and there to keep it all down.

I was actually thinking about getting a yard torch and flaming it all but don't know how permanent that would be without killing/removing the root.

    :help:

Brass is good. I like to keep a few of these Rinnai filter screens on hand as you're supposed to clean them after flushing, but I find them to be one and done with my hard city water.

    https://www.amazon.com/Water-Heater...ss+water+heater+filter+screen+,aps,124&sr=8-3

Also, this flush kit and a few gallons of distilled vinegar is all you need. (What I use and Rinnai recommends distilled vinegar too.)

    https://www.amazon.com/Kelaro-Tankl...ush+,aps,129&sr=8-3-spons&smid=A2MBVPSPHH0UBM

The torch method sounds fun. I think Harbor Freight sells a kit that connects to a propane tank. Come to think of it, I remember a story about how a homeowner burnt their house down trying to burn the weeds. :bananadead:

I was just going to pour gasoline all around my house and touch it off with my map gas torch.

My son has one and he uses it all the time on weeds. They do grow back, but it's fun to get rid of them

Yeah it's kinda crazy but not much I can do about it, I did discover it has to be picked up as it will almost instantly tangle up and stop the mower.

Brass works well, or black pipe. They do also sell threaded PVC nipples.

Long story short, I was replacing our floor in the winter and found the subfloor to be rotted by our sliding glass door. So waiting until summer to take door out to inspect the severity.
It's pretty bad. I already know that I need to take the deck down to replace boards.

But my main question is how do I fix the subfloor underneath wall studs? Help me TW!

I fear for your joists….any way you can get a look at them, especially the rim joist?
You’re prolly not gonna like the fix :(
    How wide is the deck?

If your referring to black iron pipe never use it in water systems. It corrodes at a faster rate then galvi. Brass, ABS and PVC are the correct ones to use. With brass being the best choice, IMO.

Yep. It can't be used with potable water systems and galvi can't be used in gas supply systems.

Black iron is not coated or treated. So it will rust very quickly in water. Since it's not coated there's nothing to interact with it in gas supply.

Galvi is coated and will take much longer to rust. When used in gas supply that coating can flake off and clog the system.

I think it’s for compressed gasses like you say propane/natural gas and compressed air.
Copper, brass, stainless, pex, cpvc, hope, and galvanized are the ones for potable water, IIRC.

Fingers crossed it’s just the subfloor
The fix in this case would be pull the deck boards against the house then bend some metal or “peel and stick” flashing (something like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/TITE-SEAL-...VBITICh1iiwCyEAQYASABEgLqVfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds ) that will tuck up under the siding, cut and adhere to subfloor under door threshold , then run down and cap the deck ledger. Do this the entire length of the deck/house connection. Use lots of 100% silicone when putting the door back in

Well the deck joists seem to be ok, but I already know I need to take it down to fix the rot.

Yeah I fear this is past my expertise and hoping a contractor could spend a day with me to at least fix the rot and I can finish the door install...I'll keep you all updated. Thanks for the quick feedback!
