We do. We had stopped having the paper delivered a number of years ago because it was arriving too late, after we had left for work. After retiring several years ago we started the subscription again. Now since the China Virus shutdowns we got a dog... and he absolutely LOVES running out to get the paper in the morning. He started that 10 days after we got him in September 2020. Now if the paper doesn't come for some reason it completely ruins his day. Also, when we visit my 91 year old dad about once a week we bring him the prior 2 or 3 days of newspapers. He really enjoys reading them too.

You really should be saying, "Remember newspapers?"

Permit? I grew up in Brooklyn. We were a bunch of ten year olds and none of us had a permit. We got a bill at the end of the week for papers and whatever was left over was yours. Kept track of collections in a little green book. I do remember having to get "Working Papers" when I got a job at Macdonalds when I was 16.

I had a paper route. I remember how pissed off I'd get when you had to collect the $2 each month and you knew people were home (cause you'd see the curtains move) but they wouldn't come to the door to pay the kid that brought them their paper.

Wasn't allowed to have a BB Gun because I might shoot my eye out (Ralphie and his Red Rider) but it was okay for me to have a Sling shot.jpg If I look through my stuff, I think I still have it

I found it pretty much impossible to hit anything with a sling shot.

Dad taught me and my brother how to whittle sling shots as kids. We used surgical rubber band and a leather boot pull to build them. Many moons ago!

Funny. I was walking through my local Ace Hardware the other day and there was a Crossman wrist rocket on the shelf in this little camping supply section. It was $9 so I gave it a good home. Gonna practice with it a bit and then show that cute little skunk that cruises the camp spot we always get locally at the lake where we've been taking our new travel trailer. Just a little love tap to remind him who's boss until he sprays my shit.

My Labrador is a well trained gun dog. Like yours, he was ALL ABOUT retrieving the morning paper but after a number of years, that rag went off the reservation and wasn't worthy to wrap a dead fish in it so we canceled. As did damned near everybody else in my hood but when I let Jack out in the morning, he started coming back with a newspaper! Turns out, one of my neighbors about 4 or 5 houses down was still getting his paper and Jack's duty was to retrieve it so, by golly, he did! Took some doing to get him to stop but we filled the void with some new activity.

Boxer's story is somewhat similar.... He's a Weimaraner, his name Boxer comes from our many Box turtles. He was 12 weeks old when we got him, and I would take him out with me in the morning when I would get in the paper. On day ten he started running ahead of me and picked up the paper for me. But then if a neighbors paper was there but ours had been missed... he ran a picked up the neighbor's paper. When we would go for morning walks he would pick up anyone's paper that was still in their driveway, and we would have to wrestle it away from him... that was HIS paper! He doesn't do that any more, he finally learned that those are not our papers. Boxer doesn't do guns... he gets deathly afraid of the sound of fireworks, and he doesn't care much for thunder either.
