It’s running fine from takeoff after it’s sat awhile, takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours before it starts idling horribly. And it not like it’s missing. No knocks or pings, just idles up and down like it starving for fuel or air. Since this has happened tho I forgot to mention at one point my fuel cap would either suck or blow around the seal when I’d put the vehicle in park with it running.replaced with oem cap and have only caught it doing that once since replacement. Kinda led me to believe might be charcoal canister or blocked vent.

Kinda makes sense, dust can get into those parts, and you drive in dust alot.

Dealership told me 100000 on tranny fluid and allowed that yes filter was changed, however I’ve caught them in sketchy practices as I’ve replaced my air filter before going in for oil change and they’ve hit me up saying it needed changed 10 minutes into service. Also I always get charged for tire rotation and have marked my tires to see if they were rotated and have caught them a few times lying.

I'm leaning towards a fueling issue of some kind. If it runs for 2.5 hours fine I doubt it has engine damage. Could also be the spark plugs as looking were the last human was is a good place to start when troubleshooting. Did you use OEM plugs, and were did you get them.

Dealers are not a good source for maintenance data. As you yourself experienced they aren't always honest. Trans fluid is a very hard working fluid, a drain and fill(changes about 3.5 quarts of fluid) every 60k is what I would call a minimum to keep it fresh. With a truck like yours I would drain/fill every 3 oil changes.

Trouble began before last plug change, changed plugs as I thought it might have been the issue, now I’m thinking the issue may have fouled the plugs I changed. Used The denso plugs that are factory recommended

Plugs should be changed every 60k, how many miles were on them and how did they looked when you pulled them. Also, were did you get the new plugs?

No, I’ve learned not to put complete faith in my nearest dealership as per their shady practices the last few years with all the shortages. They were gonna charge 600 dollars to change brake pads on in laws rav as they said they were worn completely out. Changed them myself and was probably 30 percent worn. With hardly any vehicles on their lot the last couple of years I’m sure they were using service department to try to stay afloat but screwing people over is not the way to do it and I’ve seen them called out too many times while I was in there.

Plugs I changed looked pretty fouled but I’ve changed worse. Pretty sure I got them at auto zone but they were the denso plugs that are recommended. Hell all the guys in tundras at work replace theirs with bosche as they are cheaper and they have had no issues.

Plugs were also changed per factory recommendation even tho I usually do it myself as it’s not that complicated and I’ve been quoted 600 to 800 for plug change at dealership

The book says to pull the intake to change the plug, its completely unnecessary and expensive. So the plugs had like 80k on them?

Didn’t pull intake, just tube and maf body, worked around everything else and do one plug at a time so I don’t get mixed up, factory recommended every 60000 is what I’ve read but the 2018 is at 130000 without change and show no issue. I’ve always read iridium plugs could go 100000 or better with no problem and seen some at 160000 that didn’t look that baf

Did you inspect the coils/boots? Use any antiseize or dielectric grease?

Coils looked brand new compared to some I’ve seen online that were pulled and were rusted to hell due to incorrect factory torque specs I guess and had started backing out. And yes dielectric grease on boots

2nd time plugs have been changed tho and no problems after first time. After I changed them this go around truck ran as normal for almost two weeks before it went back to its issue leading me to believe I’ve got another issue fouling the plugs

Check if they are fouled when you do the compression test.

Check your TPS sensor...The idling after the car is shut off could be the switch or other electrical problem. Sounds like you also may have an electrical gremlin that is causing multiple issues. I would find a mechanic that specializes in vehicle electrical systems.
