Has anyone bought the dealership’s interior protection guarantee package? Claim is that fabric is protected against spots/stains, and that any damage done will be repaired or replaced.

Always skeptical of dealership offerings but this one seemed reasonably priced.

I’m also looking at car seat covers, though I don’t want anything leather-like or neoprene due to how very hot it is here in Arizona. And those seem like the best protection/best looking.

Another option might be getting some sort of Scotchguard type application by a local detailing shop.

Tempted by the dealership for convenience and warranty.

    Curious for your experiences. Thanks.

    Oh look, another mod....
The best cloth seat (or any seat for that matter), is a seat cover. That fabric/scotch guard stuff they spray on the seats won't last forever or protect against everything. Smells, odors, stains, hair...it will all find its way into your cloth seats over time.

The dealership is selling you Scotchgard and backing it up with the occasional spot-clean-with-the-shop-Bissell warranty. :cookiemonster:

Convenient, yes. But you are paying for it and then some.

I ran Scotchgard and did my own bisselling for years, then finally got tired of doing the work after every weekend camping trip. I had the seats professionally shampooed, then I Scotchgarded again and the next day covered them with clazzio covers.

I live in Texas, the leather covers aren't nearly as hot as you would think. They're great for not only stains, but dirt abrasion as well. That would be my route of choice.

All of this sounds right to me. Damn the dealerships work hard to make convenience appealing, though… lol

But my instinct is to do my own Scotchguarding then put in seat covers. I bought some Fia OE SeatCovers that just arrived this morning. I’ll try them on and see what I think, but they’re just fabric too.

Good to know about the Clazzio not being too hot. Which material did you go with for them? I’m looking now - there’s Leather or Nappa Leather, or vinyl/PVC options.

I'm notoriously cheap - I went with the PVCs. Look and wear exactly the same as the leathers but they will be slightly more prone to puncture damage (example, if you sit on your keys.)

Ha, I get that. Was just looking at the PVC myself. Thinking the perforation must help keep it a little cooler? Worry about dog’s nails puncturing it but she’s almost always in back seat with a dog hammock-style seat cover.

Oh yeah, I always lay down a pet hammock over the seats. My dogs are bad about that. One jumped into my favorite hammock (the other kind of hammock :cookiemonster:) on the last campout and instantly ripped the sucker in half. Spilled us both onto the ground.

I sprayed scotch guard, then read the contents. It works, but it made my truck stink, worse. It was pretty stinky coming out of the factory. Bought some pleather clazzios.

Currently have dark gray (cement color) leather clazzios. They are tolerable in hot weather, probably due to color.

Had the OEM TRD black vinyl seat covers in my 2nd gen. They were incredibly hot.

Is the pleather the PVC or the vinyl? You happy with them? Good point on the stink of the scotch guard. Will want to do that when I can really air it out after. I’m more sensitive to all those chemicals than I’d like to be.

Good to know, thanks. How are you liking them? Do you have a pic? I’m looking at the clazzios and they have dark grey in stock, in either leather or PVC (the two options I’m looking at since they’re both perforated which should help with the heat factor)

Thanks, those do look great, I actually had them bookmarked already as options. I ordered some similar covers but they were a thick tweed and my wife felt them and said, no, too scratchy Lol I get it, though, they weren’t comfy. Trying to find the combo of comfortable and durable. How rough are yours in texture? Do you have any pics?

Haha I actually lost a hammock just like that years ago, ripped by my old dog who was especially heavy and clumsy. He was awesome but man he was accident prone. Lol New puppy these days is lighter and more agile so fingers crossed that hammock crash is a once in a lifetime experience lol

What colors clazzios did you get? If I go for an in stock option, there’s black or grey. Trying to decide which would look better inside the truck. Especially with the red exterior, I think the black would looks best. But how hot they’d get is also a big factor.

Those look good and I’ve heard great things about neoprene from friends who live elsewhere but I have concerns about how hot they’d get and that they wouldn’t breathe while I’m sitting in them. Worried it would be really sweaty up against them. But maybe that’s off base?

Black on black (bolster/panel) with red stitching. It's one they commonly keep in stock so it shipped almost immediately.

Here are the clazzios (leather with vinyl bolsters, dark grey, on the seats for 15,000 miles)

I like them a lot. Fit is excellent and they clean easily. There is 3/8 or so padding on them, which adds some volume to the seats but does make them softer. Remove seats for install; it is much easier.

I can also comment on wet okole and rough country neoprene vs. clazzio. I had wet okole fronts and rough country rear covers prior to the clazzios. Wet okole and rough country are very similar in material- it is a thick/breathable neoprene that aside from color does not heat up excessively in the sun. They, especially the wet okoles, have a thick foam backing that takes up a lot of volume but makes the seats very soft. Wet okoles are definitely better made than the rough county, but the RC actually fit a bit tighter.

They are good seat covers, but pet hair magnets. Whatever that neoprene material is holds on to dog hair like nothing else.

    YMMV.
