    Hi guys,

I’ve found a 2017 TRD sport with the specs I’m looking for. It’s manual, access cab, and painted in quicksand. 88k on the odometer and it has a snugtop shell and icon stage 2 front and rear. The seller is looking for $33k. It has has quite a few small dents, rub marks, and paint chips, he took it off-road a lot, cab is super filthy. I don’t mind these as it’s going to be a work and off-roading rig, but I feel that the price is pretty high for the condition. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yikes! Seems really high to me.
    I believe a new 2022 SR V6 4X4 can be had for ~35K.

That’s about 10 grand more than I’d be willing to pay.

    Oh look, another mod....

This is the "range" for that model year with options and mileage:

But in this market, expect to pay a bit more. If you can, I'd try to talk him down to $28-29k

Yeah, that’s what I’m feeling. I’ve had a hard time finding comps locally that are not super steep. If I could get quicksand with the current model year I’d do that. Guess I’ve just been staring at it too long.

If a seller doesn't bother to clean it up before selling, then it should at a minimum tell you about how its been treated.
    I would pass.

If the 2017 MT Sport does not have Premium Tech package ($1480 dollar option back then), my guess is the factory MSRP price was right around $33K dollars in 2017. With dents and chips and maintenance was probably neglected, 33K dollars is too high.

Also check for a transmission cooler and tow receiver. Tow Package was a $650 option on my sticker back then and was not standard.

I’d offer $15k. Sounds like he abused the truck.

    I wouldn't offer anything.

Sometimes the price is so high it's not even worth the conversation to see what happens. I'd keep looking.

Basically it's a 5 year old truck with 88,000 miles that sounds like it's had a rough life, and the seller wants more than top dollar. Everyone thinks what they have is worth more, but it doesn't mean you have to indulge his fantasy. If you want the truck I'd say offer him $26,000, politely explain why, and if he's not willing to come down significantly tell him thank you and have a nice day. Just my $0.02.

Exactly. Can't be bothered to vacuum, clean the glass, dust hard surfaces? I doubt they cared much about other stuff. I tend to take really good care of my stuff, and when I get ready to sell it, it will be immaculate.

It’s too high. I paid 37k for a new 2021 with a factory warranty and OEM LED head and fog lights. Given some patience, you should be able to do better.

Sounds like he didn't take pride in his truck, who knows if he stuck to the scheduled maintenance. I would pass.
