I am in the middle of replacing my entire A/C (minus the evap) and I am wondering if I should wait until Toyota receives shipment from a national back order that has an ETA of mid September. I read a post on here from 10 years ago where one of the members stated the pickup sensor is only useful for a compressor that is locking up in which the sensor will signal the computer to turn off the clutch. Not sure how true that is.

    Thanks

The A/C Amplifier must see an RPM signal from the sensor on the compressor or it will disable the A/C and flash the A/C light.

The compressor should come with a new sensor installed.

I messed up and went aftermarket because I live next to a Napa and my belt was going to fry if I tried to drive anywhere. I did notice the oem denso has the sensors with it. oem is the way to go and you can actually get Toyota parts from Toyota cheaper if you make the purchase online and either have them delivered to your house or next day to a dealership in your area.

my txv needs replacement and the two torque bolts are completely frozen And started stripping I had to drill both out just to remove the valve as the threads are threaded into another part of the dash or the evap core. I was able to finagle one of them out but I’m going to need to add heat to the current bolt that’s still stuck. The valve I purchased from O’Rielly’s ran me about 30$ but came with nothing but the valve. I ordered one from parts.Toyota.com for about $80 and it came with the HP line filter, the housing, and the E10 bolt and both T25 torque bolts I need to replace. I wish I knew all this when I started working on this.
