So my background is in classic muscle cars, building and racing. I got a truck recently as I'm looking to get something more functional and I can't justify some of my current projects if Iend up moving housing locations.

Anyways I snagged this '17 TRD Pro and while it's an awesome truck and I've really enjoyed having a level of utility I've not had before... I've also had to undo a lot of cheap mods the previous owner had done. Cheap aliexpress head unit, wires left behind from a previous amp/sub, just to name a few. That said it has some nice Nitto tires so I figured this guy didn't cheap out on everything. It's got some 285s with wheel spacers and a lift. I didn't realize it had a lift at first cause my eyes aren't used to looking for that stuff!

I don't know the brand of the lift, but it looks like it has leaf spring blocks and front shock spacers. Is this okay for these trucks? It seems like it's a 2in lift maybe? I'm not looking for the most efficient setup out there, but I also don't want something sketch and cheap that could cause further issues, especially with the TRD Pro setup.

Could people smarter than me give a quick breakdown for what I'm looking at, pros and cons, and maybe some tips for owning a very different vehicle than what I'm used to?

I've done some basic preventive stuff like filters and fluids, also put on a catch can, optima yellow-top battery, new head unit (Sony ax7000), and I've got brakes for front/rear but I haven't done those yet.

I'm trying to get this thing setup so it's reliable. Should I get the Westcott Designs lift kit or is the lift on the truck right now okay?

Well If you do any offroading, I'd recommend removing the rear leaf springs blocks and the front shock spacers. Upgrades would be a better leaf pack with hammer hangers

Go westcot kit but before you do that, your upper ball joint looks bad. Might want to address that first.

@vivid02 I just ordered the West kit, figured as much after reading some other threads. I have an aftermarket upper control arm, is that gonna work okay with the west kit if it's a smaller lift? I think I saw that the control arm company recommends 2-4in lift for that control arm but I think the West kit is like 1.5in. Would I need to change control arms too? Not sure how flexible this stuff is.

I'll also look at that ball joint.

With the westcott kit you can use stock control arms. Folks around here give away their stock control arms when they upgrade to aftermarket arms.

The Freedom upper control arms in your pictures appears to not have caster adjustment. Not sure how off your alignment might be due to the .5 inch less than recommended for those UCAs.

My account has to be 30 days old to post in the marketplace channel. Are there any mega threads that I could in?

You can still post on sellers for sale post and send sellers a private message.
Search for “UCA” and search for just “control arms” and you will find some cheap oem sets.
Not sure where you are but check the regional forums too.
