I have a 2000 Tacoma Ext Cab, Automatic V6. I replaced the engine and it ran perfect. I was putting in a gps unit and also keyless entry using the existing power door locks. I unplugged the connectors located behind the inside fuse box, without disconnecting the ground (- neg) battery cable looking for the wires controlling the power door locks and the parking lights.

I was running out of daylight, so I decided to plug them back in and, finish up for the day. When I went to restart it, the electrical system seem to go haywire.

None of the power door locks, turn signals or dome lights work. It will only start with the turn signal switch in the right turn position. It starts from turning the key, but does not turn off from removing the key. It turns off when I move the turn signal switch out of the right turn position.

I'm thinking it may be the integrated relay or a bad ground. I have not found a bad ground yet, and the integrated relay doesn't appear to be burnt, or bubble.

BTW, The battery is good, and its not the fuel pump.

Any advise is appreciated, hopefully someone has had similar issues. I am thinking about buying a new relay, but it's $300 for a part that I am unsure it will help.

    Thanks

Just in case someone has a similar issue.... It was the integrated relay. I bought a used one ($60) from a junk yard and put it in. Runs back to normal now.

For anyone that has similar issues. there are two electrical connections that go into the back of the fuse box that are exactly the same size, and plug in right next to each other, one is grey the other is white. They can be easily swapped and plugged into the wrong location, if you plug it into the wrong location your truck will go haywire with these above problems and it wil drive you nuts until you finally figure this out.
