I think the removal tool is somewhat generic. Check an auto parts store.

Another thing to try is to let some air out. It might release some tension holding it up.

This is the second time it has rusted up. If I have time i will take to the dealer. If not, I can cut it off. Heading from New York to Colorado, Utah, then Vegas. I leave early Wednesday. Normally I store spare in the bed anyways so I will bring a pump jack and will be all set

When I had a blowout on the freeway, the roadside service pulled up. He tried my pos lowering tool, then used his which lowered it easily.

    Cable or chain?

    Cable winch I'd bet.
Chain winch usually doesn't freeze up. ( I've never seen one freeze up anyway ).

The cable winch requires a ton of maintenance and grease to keep it operational and to prevent the cable from rotting through and dropping the tire on the highway. To sum up the cable winch system: it is equal to junk.

I always wanted to just hook up the whole system and permanently mount it and also use some rubber to dampen any noise. Then all you would need is one handle by the license plate.

I ended up cutting it off. I tried a pry bar then a long ass screwdriver. No time to waste as I leave Wednesday. Tomorrow I will throw on my 33s get an alignment and I am good to go. Thanks for the help

How soon is your trip? If you send me a pic, I might have a spare one for you.
