    Hi Everyone,

I took my 2016 Tacoma Sport into the dealer last month to have the AC looked at - $2200.00 CDN later it was fixed. While I was there, the advisor said there was a recall on the 3rd Brake light. I said funny, because a year ago I brought it in because it was leaking and they charged me $750.00 CDN to fix it as it was out of warranty. They still insisted on doing their warranty work even though I replaced the light. Anyways, the advisor was really nice and said they will submit a claim with Toyota to get my money back for the brake light. I didn't hold out much hope, but a few weeks later I got a cheque for the whole amount I spent to fix it. Anyways, this was just to let people know that the 3rd brake light thing is a recall and to take them in to have them looked at. In Canada, I know it wasn't a recall until recently. Like I said, I tried having it fixed over a year ago and they charged me and said it wasn't under warranty or recall. Something must have changed recently. Anyways, that's my first post - been lurking a while, but finally I thought I had something to add that may be helpful to someone.

Exactly! I saw all the US posts saying it was recalled, but when I went in they said not in Canada. After three years they said I was SOL. I was mad at the time since I thought it was a major manufacturing defect, and the seal takes about 3 years to start to leak. I wasn't going to silicone it and make it look like garbage, so I bit the bullet and spent the money. Anyways, I am happy with the outcome - restored some faith with the dealerships and Toyota.

I took mine to the dealer when I got the recall notice. I had already "fixed" mine with a very thin bead of silicone a few years ago, and it hadn't been leaking since. The dealer replaced the break and liner all at no cost.
