    Evening all:

    Duly noted Ken.
We didn't get anything done today except for getting the parts together, when we got back we were on the edge of a severe thunderstorm that went through the Lehigh Valley, it was thundering and lightning and raining pretty hard at times, will try again tomorrow.

    Morning all:

I love pineapple upside down cake, they are all good but IMO the best ones are made in cast iron skillets. :hungry:
    Enjoy that cake!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gal! We had a very nicely delivered 0.6" - well done! More, please! Off this morning to pick up that grass I finally found. Most places have none due to drought, and I don't need much. Place in north Austin had harvest delayed due to rain! But, off we go.

I am having fun being a bum when not doing my knee PT, binging Netflix and YouTube.

Kloe - Netflix German Show. Enjoyed this one.

https://www.youtube.com/c/AmbitionStrikes -- fun channel. The couple met when both were active with PolyGoats (Cal Poly Off Road Club). After a while decided to open an off-road fab shop, and lots of hours, demands, and work - sold the shop, and life went on. I'm having fun watching their adventures.

Friend of mind did something similar in Santa Cruz Mountains. He bought a D8 Dozer to cut a road and grade the land. It has a small gas engine, and you got it started to start the big diesel. So when they were working on the dozer brought back odd memories from the 1980s.

These days, I am getting too old to create my homestead. I still love the idea of having 20 acres and a tiny home. :)

Those IBM punch cards used to be the bane of my existence when I first worked in engineering (circa 1974). You would fill out a coding sheet and turn it in through a basket in the basement "IT" department. Overnight, some gal would punch a deck of cards for you (I say "some" but they had a room full punching away) and it would arrive in your in-basket the next morning. Never ever would get a deck that ran the first time........... and some errors so insidious it would take half a day to get the routine debugged to run. Frustration to the max...............

Interesting! Went through the exact same scenario early-to-late 70's working for a major defense contractor. We needed the "punch cards" to load a test program into a machine that allowed us to verify proper operation of new circuit boards. Memories!!

Went to the gun range yesterday to practice as I’m requalifying for my ccw. Isn’t difficult to blast through $100 or $200 of ammo. A friend went with me who is qualifying for the first time this weekend. He hasn’t practiced in a couple years. Based on what I saw he ain’t going to make it. You need 80% within the 7 ring at various distances and some rapid fire. I don’t think he got 50% within the 7 ring. He needs to practice everyday this week if he’s going to pass. I try to shoot 250 to 500 rounds every other month but it’s getting ridiculously expensive and near impossible to find certain caliber ammo (38 spl and 357 mag).
Today is clean the guns day, I brought 4 guns yesterday and I’m a stickler for keeping my weapons clean, lubed and smooth functioning.
Tomorrow no plans. Thursday hopefully fishing. Can’t plan beyond that. This retired life is just so stressful, NOT!

I try to keep a stock of 9mm ammo as thats what I mainly shoot and depending on the price, I try to buy enough to keep the hobby going. 9mm is more plentiful and albeit cheaper than other calibers here in PA. Just paid $80 for 100 rounds of 158 gr JHP for my .357. Havent shot it lately (didnt have any ammo) and will need to clean it up and take it out (not until the end of November when I get back from our trip.) and put some holes in paper. In Pennsylvania we don't have to qualify for a ccw. Do you have to use a particular gun/caliber when you qualify or can you use one that you are comfortable and familiar with with? Take care and good luck qualifying Ken.

You might like mine then... I always doublethink any recipe I get hold of. Cast iron fry pan for sure, and I use Betty Crocker. Double the butter and brown sugar, then lay in 7 pineapple slices, marachino cherries, and walnut halves. substitute pineapple juice for water, and add half a cup of vegetable oil. fold the included small can into the batter, pour and bury more walnuts on top. The pineapple slices might not transfer to the plate by themselves, so take care to remove them from the pan for placement. Serve with gobs of whipped cream. Happy Birthday to me!

Is it just the amount of hoarding going on? I know I've been buying more quantity when I can find anything I can use... and I doubt the manufacturers are making less. I've seen shelves restocked and full, and the next day they are practically empty.

Here you can qualify for a max of 3 guns. You have to qualify on the range with each gun. For the most part any gun and caliber you want. Requirements vary with the county of residence. Some counties they make it almost impossible. Here in Sacramento county it isn’t too bad. Interview with the sheriffs office, background check and then 16 hours of class instruction for your initial ccw. Then you have to qualify on the range. Every 2 years I have to requalify on the range and take a 3 hour course. Here is the range qualification requirements. Total 50 rounds 80% within the 7 ring.
    Stage 1 15 yards 6 rounds in 30 seconds *6 standing position X
    Stage 2 7 yards 14 Rounds in 45 seconds (includes 2 reloads) (load 6, 6 and 2) *6 standing position *8 knelling position
Stage 3 7 yards 6 rounds in 10 seconds (any position)
Stage 4 7 yards 12 rounds in 25 seconds (includes reload) (load 6 and 6) *6 strong hand unsupported (reload and switch hands) *6 weak hand
    Stage 5 5 yards 6 rounds *3 rounds in 4 seconds (2 stages)
    Stage 6 3 yards 6 rounds *2 rounds in 3 seconds (3 stages)
It’s harder than it seems. The 15 yards (45’) is a bitch with a short barreled gun like my 38 spl with 2” barrel. This is why I train as much as I do. I will requalify with my 9mm and 2 revolvers a 38spl and a 357 mag. I fear my friend is going to fail the range qualification and sadly he is a former parole officer and carried during the several years he did that.

That is a pretty rigorous qualification Ken. I know I would have problems with the kneeling part. Harder to kneel now with the replacement knee. Good Luck and keep practicing Ken.
