Is the 08 pre runner tailgate compatible with the newer tacomas?

Appreciate it just trying to see what I can do to my tacoma, altho it's hitting at 183,000 miles about how long does a tacoma last "roughly"?

When I was still working, I’ve see well over 200k depends on how well maintained it was in it’s early years, oil changes etc. just watch out for the frame and body rust also.

05-15 tailgates should be the same.

Depends on how well it is maintained but 250-300k without major problems is not uncommon.

What are you considering newer tacomas? Pre-2016 or 2016+?

Well I was hoping I could convert from what I have but apparently not. Also making sure it's worth the upgrades because I am at 183k miles not sure how much longer I can keep it going

Generally they last until the frame gives out :anonymous:

I’ve seen more than a few with well over 300k.

Only if your in the rust belt or offroad the hell out of it, of course like most other vehicles poor maintenance will kill them prematurely.

Yea I'm not sure why Tacoma's get a bad rap for frame rot, every vehicle that lives where they salt the roads is going to rot out very quickly if nothing is done to keep the frame cleaned and protected. At least Toyota did extend the warranty on the frame, no other manufacturer I know of has done that other than being forced into a recall by NHTSA.

It’s because Toyota has the reputation for “running for ever”.

Most of us Toyota owner never really have to do any major repair.
And then all of a sudden the frame is bad, and you’re like WTF?

I’m not hating on the other brands.
But by the time their frames rot, the owner is usually sick of having to repair it anyways.
So, it doesn’t hurt as bad.
If you get what I’m saying?

Sounds like normal issues we all should expect with higher miles during ownership. That doesn't mean the motor is about to fail and you have to buy another vehicle. Keep up with the maintenance, replace worn items along the way and the truck will likely reach 300k miles.

2nd gen Tacomas with the V6 in fleet service lasting 400,000-450,000 miles is not uncommon.

Just curious, what parts are interchangeable from a newer gen yota to a 08 Toyota tacoma sr5 4.0l?

Wants.. want to upgrade seats front and rear.

Suspension but not go all crazy with lift kits

    Lights etc..

There's not many parts that will interchange between 2nd and 3rd gen trucks besides a few suspension and driveline components.
2nd gens (2005-2015) are all mechanically the same, some trim, front end appearance, and some electronics were changed/upgraded over the model run but for the most part everything is the same from 05-15.

While I believe 3rd gen seats as well as quite a few other seats will physically bolt in the components for the SRS system are not the same so you will have problems there.
