A good friend of mine Tim Whalen from the band Whalen, his wife a cancer survivor, is in a contest with MLB "Honorary Bat Girl Contest" for their fight against breast cancer.
    Here is her story.
On August 3rd, 2010, is when my life altered. My radiologists noticed change in mammo. Biopsy was immediate, received a call the next day to find DCIS. With all the love and support from my husband, my friends, and family, they really stepped up to the plate with me! Finding 4 affected areas on my right breast, a lumpectomy wasn't the answer-I needed a mastectomy. How was I going to tell my two very adorable, innocent children about the cancer? I found a wonderful book by Ellen McVicker. The story told through the eyes of a child gives a simple, honest picture of cancer. We reassured that mommy was going to be ok. On September 23, 2010 I had a VERY SUCCESSFUL bilateral mastectomy, with the skillful hands of my nurses and doctors, CANCER FREE!! Attitude is the key! Expansion process, then radiation began dragging my 5-year-old son with me. I am proof to life after cancer!

If you would follow the link and cast your vote, find her under the Diamondbacks, nickname "dothebodygood".
