Hi all...I'm at work so I can't elaborate any...But I'm in a real financial pickle and my damn drive shaft is just about to blow ...Here's my question and please, if you've heard this being done, let me know....And as you know, it's a 2 piece with 3 ujoints and one sorry ass carrier bearing....Can I .. possibly, drop the shaft at the differential , and under the truck, remove and replace that one u joint ? I got a good look last night and a piece of the neoprene collar came off in my hand....And it's dry a bone .. Everything else can wait a week till I get paid. ..Anybody ? It's strictly a money thing and I can tell it's gonna go any moment

Providing the other ujoints are good yes you can replace just one, make sure you mark the driveshaft so you keep everything in line when reassembling.

Post some pics of the joint. If the yoke is hogged out the new joints might not fit tight enough

If I understand your question, can this be done under the truck?
Some of us struggle with these damned things on a bench. Under the truck would be a no-go for me.

Truthfully, I bet the yoke is hogged out....And it was a struggle the first time I did it on a bench as well....What about this ? I forgot to mention that I have actually seen the entire assembly available on Amazon lately...From California and NY....I believe they are 399 ?....But it was another option and I thought it might me a great way to either have a backup, extra parts , or sell the old one....Anyone know anything about these ?
