BSM Missing? Incomplete Builds?

Agreed. It's odd they'd push out vehicles missing features. The dealer who originally shared this news with me is still saying the majority of their trucks will be missing BSM for at least the next ~month...even with the increased numbers they'll be receiving.

I've been starting to see TRD Sports pile up on the lots almost everywhere. Also, there are lots more Offroads showing up, especially in red and black. Unfortunately, nearly all the 4x4 Offroads with Advanced Tech package are either reserved or still have a markups on them in California.

 

@SloTaco13 curious if you ever got yours or if you decided to go a different direction?

 

When I bought mine a couple months ago, the BSM didn't work. They said it just needed a sensor and they'd call me when it's in. This thread explains why it's been two months without a call.

 

That's really interesting. Seems like there was some truth to things after all. Mine must have been built right before they started shipping without it. At least they seem to have committed to fixing it at some point, hopefully soon!

 

Make sure you read the fine print. My truck arrived with Advanced Tech which I assumed meant getting BSM. Truck arrives, no BSM and no mention of it on window sticker.
I go back to the Toyota site to build your truck, and I see there is now “Advanced Tech” and “Advanced Tech with Options” for an additional $900. Guess BSM is now considered an optional package on top of Advanced Tech.

I talked to dealer about this and the real burn is if I want to add BSM now it will be $1500 and that does not include the led headlights that would have been included in “Advanced Tech with Options” for an extra $900. No recourse on my part as truck was built as described on the web site and market is still a take it or we’ll sell it to next person.

 

So I’m assuming that my soon to be born truck will have BSM?

 

One thing is for sure: it's super confusing right now. For some reason BSM and RCTA have never been explicitly listed with Advanced Tech package (some of us dug up old factory stickers from 2-3 year old trucks) and I think that makes it so much harder to pin down Toyota on this one. I'd say both Tech Package and Advanced Tech package it could be like @Disgruntled Vet mentioned about where it is missing a sensor and it needs to be added once they have them available. I don't think any salesmen get any real info so I'd take anything they say with a grain of salt.

Mine was built in mid-April and the actual factory sticker makes no mention of BSM or RCTA but when I picked it up it was definitely there and fully functional (despite the salesman telling me he didn't think it would be included since it's not listed explicitly with the Advance Tech package on the factory sticker". I seem to remember something a salesman showed me at some point that said something to the effect of "Advanced Technology Package has everything in the Technology Package plus XYZ" but it wasn't very prominently called out anywhere.

 

Sounds like a toss up, I’m going to have my sales guy send me an updated V spec sheet once my vin goes permanent.

 

I think it really is. But with yours having it listed specifically by name in the Tech Package description I think that gives you a much better argument to keep them from trying to charge you to add it in later when parts become available. Do you know the build date already?
