Boys, my spc uppers are shot after 25k miles on them. Too much play and bushings toasted. What’s a good brand of Tacoma UCA’s to buy? Looking for durability and obviously best price. FYI I have 34” geolander mts and 3” lift

Also, is there a rebuild kit for Spc? What’s it like

Yes like mentioned above, most UCA can be rebuilt. But if you are not looking to do that, we've got a good option for you

Yeah I thought it was crazy too when they told me. So I got a second opinion and got the same answer. But after doing some research it doesn’t seem to be super uncommon.

Did you grease them after every offroad trip or when they saw dirt mud etc? I ran mine pretty damn hard and never had any issues but i did all the recommended maintenance spc says to do and used the grease they recommended as well.

its really important to pump out all the old stuff and grit and grime that gets in there. it will tear them up quick

Who did you have checking the joints? Because of the way spcs are build someone who doesn't know can falsely call them bad. The classic use a prybar and if it moves its bad technique will always "fail" them because they have an internal wear spring that can be overcome with excessive force. See page 5/6 of this document.

Certainly true, but these ball joints are sealed so no grit and grime should be getting into the ball joint itself. Flushing the grease out of a ball joint should not need to be a frequent/maintenance thing. Looks like they are asking for "5 to 10 pumps of grease to ball joint at each oil change, or after operating vehicle in wet or dusty conditions" which seems extremely excessive.

All i can say is i maintained mine and ran them pretty hard and never had an issue with them. I live in the southeast where thick clay mud and junk is a real problem. If i was still on my mid travel setup id still be running them. Made fitting 35's a breeze without any tubing or excessive cutting. I could get wheel exactly where i wanted it. I never rubbed once on or off road and they road well. Thats my experience but i know others will have different ones. It wasn't a big deal to me to pump grease in there every so often after trips. wanna say i did it like every other trip/ oil change.

Mine are also shot, both the ball joints and xaxis bushing. Less than 10k in them. They released a bad batch of bushings. Also moving on from these.
