Currently have 265/75/16s on my 1996 tacoma. It’s a 2.7L 4-cyl with a 5 speed manual. Have had these tires since i bought it so not sure what the power difference from stock tires are… Was hoping to size up to 285s since i got a 2” lift, but not sure if 285s would be too much of a decrease in power to where I’d have to regear…

I think it depends on where you live and drive. Live in a mountainous region you're gonna want to regear. Live in Kansas, you'd probably not have to worry about it. ;)

What gear ratio do you have?

If you have 4.10’s you’ll be ok, not great, but ok.

Stay away from E-Rated tires. C-Rated is where you want to be. Less options but much lighter and will ride much nicer.

I’m swapping to some KO2 32x11.50’s on mine. Which are a little bit taller than my current 265 KO2’s.

I ran 33x10.50s for years on my 2.7 5 spd with stock 4.10 gears. Worked fine on the pavement, but was a bit high geared for crawling even in low range. 4 high was pretty much useless for anything other than slick roads.

I have 3 in lift with toyo AT 33s ran 4.10 forever sucked on the free climbing to higher altitudes. But ignorance kept me from thinking i had an issue on the trail. Then I regeared 2.88s and added ARB rear air lockers. Completely different truck.
Now for my one min bitch and wine session- this site sucks for us 2.7l 5 speed tacos. All I read when we ask for proformance help is sell it buy a v6. I love my 4 banger I just wish the Tacoma world would stop treating it like the ugle step child

Welcome to my world. Try being a 4 banger and a regular cab. I own an ugly redheaded stepchild. ;)

Stock tires are what 10.5in wide? So a 285/75/16 would be 11.2? Would there be any rubbing or does a spacer need to be installed?
