The Mooninite

Greetings!

I started this after doing a couple minor upgrades. I got the Mooninite back in Oct 2021, nothing too fancy, just a 22 Lunar Rock TRD OR. It's my daily driver, but is also used off-road somewhat regularly, either for hitting trails with friends on the weekends, or for SAR missions across SEAZ.

Thanks. Someone actually stopped me while I was wiping it down after washing it yesterday to tell me it was the exact truck him and his wife wanted and asked where I got it. I just happened to have the card for the sales guy with me so I handed it to him. I lucked out back in oct... I was getting ready to put down a deposit for an Army Green TRD OR when the original buyer for this truck backed out and the sales dude asked me if I wanted to look at it since I hadn't seen the LR color in person before. Wound up buying it that day.

 

That is awesome. Yeah I bought my truck just a bit before you, right before the prices all skyrocket. That was pure luck, not anything I did out due to intelligence lol.

Nowadays these trucks are just a pipe dream for a lot of people because of the price!

 

Luckily the dealership I went to doesn't do price adjustments, so I was able to get mine for $500 below MSRP. Not ideal, but a lot better than the $10k over MSRP that the other toyota dealership wanted to charge me for the same build lol.

 

That’s awesome. I bought mine in Dec. 2020 and I actually was able to get it for $6K below MSRP. Probably one of the last times that happened lol

MESO Customs dual color LED map lights are in! Can't wait to see how they look at night combined with the MESO LED dome light upgrade.

 

Just installed a set of PAKRAX Bed Stiffeners. They look amazing.

 

DRT Fabrication Universal Hitch Skid finally arrived and looks great mounted on the truck. Just in time for weekend off-roading in the monsoon storms.

 

So, there I was, casually driving to work, minding my own business at like 6am with almost no one on the road besides a jeep in the other lane. No big deal, I thought, until he spontaneously backed into my lane at short range and with no warning. I tried slamming on the brakes as hard as I could, but I was about a carlength or two short and wound up hitting his back left corner with the front right corner of The Mooninite. To make things even worse, the dickhead's jeep was uninsured. To his credit, the guy stuck around (it probably helped that the local PD Commander happened to be in the area and came right over to make sure no one was hurt) and told the responding cop a fairly accurate representation of what happened, to include the fact that he didn't have his hazards on bc the jeep died, so there was no way I could have predicted he was about to turn into my lane, or that his jeep was having issues to begin with.

Hoping for a quick resolution from USAA and a speedy repair so I can get back on the road and the trails :/
