I average about 28mpg and my record is 30.5mpg. I have the same truck you do except longbed.

I drive almost all highway and do between 65-70mph.

There was someone on another thread that was getting about 32mpg.

It also likes to use the brakes a lot when following cars. It trys to maintain the distance almost exactly. It also brakes going down steep hills to maintain correct speed.

adaptive cruise control hopefully explains why some people seem to drive very erratically flooring the gas then slamming on the brakes every 5 seconds then they wonder why you are so close.

This is my first vehicle with dynamic cruise. I like it for the most part. Probly cuz its new to me so its fun to see what its going to do.
But yeah, it acts like a dumbass kid driving for the first time who just wants to follow what it says in the "book", but has zero intuition or ability to make assumptions about real world driving....LOL.
With that said, I still like it.

my gas mileage improved when I used the cruise control more. but I have a 20 mile one way commute that has 4 stop lights (1-2 never stop me) and little traffic for the adaptive programing to do the slinky on me

I forgot to add that my tire pressures were 34 psi cold/36 psi hot, for this trip. I only had to do 3 fill-ups from Grovetown, GA to Kissimee, FL, and back home. Had a great time breaking-in my Tacoma.

TE="Uparmorjoe, post: 27736312, member: 298109"]I am keeping a log of my truck’s fuel economy that I plan to share with all as my truck breaks in.
I broke my personal fuel economy record.
My tires are the original Firestone Destinations, 89 octane fuel, a combination of highway/city (Orlando to Jacksonville). I got a tonneau cover. I decided to turn on the cruise control and strangely, the MPG went down from 24 mpg to 23.5.

I only can wish I could get better than 21.6MPG, I'm averaging 17.7 on the Fuelly app. Near stock, new michelin defenders, tonneau cover and KDMax tuned.

I've got a tonneau cover but with the stock tune, plus nearly same size goodyear adventure AT tires. No reason you can't get at least 23 mpg (summertime) with normal highway speeds. Its when you remove the front spoiler, do a lift, and install tires that are big, and heavy, your fuel economy goes down the crapper. I would guess even an aftermarket tune would drop fuel economy also.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I just drove 4000+ miles from Michigan to Wyoming and back with lots of other drives for vacation with my family. Lots of "junk in the trunk" and majority highway 70+ MPH. In the lower altitudes I got noticeably better economy, especially the wasteland between SD and Yellowstone (20MPG) in spite of the 80MPH speeds indicated on my inaccurate speedo. In the mountains I was in the low to mid teens (14 to 16 max), but it was often screaming in 3rd gear up hills at 70 MPH and a lot of ups & downs through the mountains. Overall trip MPG was 18, which was only slightly worse than my son got with his 20 year-old 4Runner with a 4.7L V8.

I hate it, except for in steep curvy mountain driving. If you can get behind someone who has half a brain that can drive a decent speed, you can set it and let them drive for you.
