Hey all, spent a while on this forum a few years ago back when I had a 2016 Tacoma. Stopped coming around after I wrecked it and life kinda went sideways. But I'm back in the market for a new truck and of course the Tacoma is top of the list.

Forum's always been a wealth of information so I'm hoping to get a jump start asking about what I just saw on 2023 Tacoma Product Information PDF someone linked on another thread:
    https://toyota-cms-media.s3.amazona.../2023_Toyota_Tacoma_Product_Information-1.pdf

Am I reading it right that the manual transmission is moving from the Sport to the Off-Road? I was chasing a '22 white MT Sport but if Toyota is moving the transmission over to the OR, I may prefer to wait for them. Did a quick search but didn't see any mention of this change...

From this table, it doesn't look like anything has changed:
    upload_2022-8-25_10-14-2.jpg

In the US, these are the only options:

-- Sport ACLB or DCSB MT.
-- OR DCSB MT. No ACLB option.

I believe in Canada, the options are:

-- Sport DCSB MT. No ACLB option.
-- OR ACLB MT. No DCSB option.

    2019 TRD OR 6 M/T here!

I found it a bit harder to find the OR with the 6 M/T. Not a ton available in my state at the time (NJ). There were a lot more Sports available which wasn't what I wanted.

I ended up traveling to Maryland to pick it up after agreeing to a price over the phone.

Thanks guys, I realized that my browser wasn't scrolling far enough right on the OR and then I couldn't find any on cars.com so I just jumped to conclusions.

Well damn, I think I want an OR instead then. This dealer ghosted me after I didn't say yes to MSRP, and he might've done me a favor lol.

    You're welcome!

The OR is the best choice, IMHO, if you are targeting a DCSB. Absolutely stupid that we don't get the ACLB OR MT here.

Dude, that's where I'm at! I got all happy until I clicked ACLB (which is a requirement). Hence my Sport build in another state.

So long story short I started a new business and I don't need the extra cab space and need the long bed. I want it to be white to make my company logo pop better and to help it blend in a bit to the contractor trucks/vans it'll be around.

So I'm looking at the sport. Well again I appreciate ya'll saved me from a rabbit hole of digging through Google!

The Sport is a good and very capable Taco. You'll be happy with it.

Yeah I loved my last one until a snowstorm in VT killed it :) I was just hoping to move over to the more capable truck this round.

All Tacos are within a hair of each other. SR to Pro. The locker is nice to have, but the TRAC system does quite well. A locker can be added later on pretty easily.

The subject of the thread was Sports and ORs and I didn't know if the OP was in the US or CA.

I'm in Albany. LOL about the Pro. From dollars/cents I should be buying the SR and suffer the automatic but that ain't happening. So I already gotta pull out my company's working capital for TRD money, no way I'm leveling that even further to Pro.

    *edit: Oh yeah, LB required.

Thats fair the pro is the only one in manual for both countries on equal footing.

    That is hilarious.

If it were legal (likely), a couple border dealers could probably make some money swapping dashes and HVAC panels on US DCSB and CA ACLB ORs.

Correct. Will continue like this until the 4th gen debuts. From what I understand from my previous employment with Toyota, manual won’t be an option on the 4th gen.

That drum beat is getting louder. Just a sign of the times.

Although, the talk of a 4th Gen EV is pretty exciting.

    Just rumours I’ve heard
    - first year of 4th gen will be turbo 4 cyl only, 8 speed I believe (or 10, memory is fuzzy).
    - end of first year will be a hybrid, like the tundra. Small battery, more power. Will be the only option for powertrain on TRD Pro.
    - sounds like in the 3-5 year they plan on introducing an EV, or plug in hybrid. I don’t know much about this one. Upper management in my line of work was very quiet about this.
