I just bought a 2022 TRD Sport and have no plans to level or lift it. When I bought Bilstein 5100 for my old 2011 SR5 Tacoma it was one of the best upgrades I did. My question is, are the Bilstein 5100 shocks still a big upgrade over the TRD sport shocks on a non-lifted or leveled truck?

You will loose the "SPORT" feel when driving. The Sport shocks valving is more towards "performance". The 5100 are valving is softer.

The sport shocks are stiff. Purely an on road experience. They add no value off road. The 5100's are much better if you plan to do even the lightest off roading.

I ran the Stock suspension until it was worn out at 60k. Slapped on 5100s with Icon RXT packs. They feel great on road with more control and really great handling. Killer off road also.

Just a plain fact that they stock parts are not as good as quality aftermarket stuff.

I’m going the same route, I just can’t pull off perfectly good parts just to replace them still haven’t hit 60k yet tho.

Exactly. Wear out the stuff that you have first.

I had 125K on stock, replaced with 5100's stills feels great on road for handling and seems to take bumps better than the stock did. No complaint with the stock though even handled well off road, I went with 5100's because I wanted a mild lift and they have a great reputation.

Another option for you OP, pick up the TRD shocks if you can find them on sale. They are rebranded 5100's. Typically you can find them between $300-$350 for the full set. Part # is PTR13-35210.
