    Shackles are tools (with safety concerns). I personally would feel irresponsible to expose them to the risk of corrosion by leaving them out in the elements full time. Also I might not be able to remove them after the threads corrode. Do they sell plastic fake ones that could be used as ornaments?

    I once made the mistake of leaving a shackle in the cubby hole in the side of the bed for the duration of a Minnesotan winter. I had to toss it due you corrosion making it impossible to unthread (sans a lot of work I was not interested in doing).
