Have you had a chance to measure or analyze the runout? Been my only concern about the Wen units...

I haven't since I don't have a micrometer to check, but for me it's definitely 'good enough'

There's minimal visible movement if you really look for it. With that said, I always used to drill my holes just a hair larger than I need; my old boss would always say it should be a cunt hair larger than the bolt you're running through it.

Mainly in the event that something warped just a tad when it got welded together. Washers were always used with said bolts.

Glad to hear. Excessive runout seems to be a problem when you read the reviews on Amazon. Ses to be hit or miss though. Would almost rather purchase from HD over Amazon though just to mitigate the risk of getting a faulty unit. Easier to bring back to HD over shipping the unit back. I'll have to see if they are in stock near me. Let us know how things turnout after a few months or so.

Problem is, Home Depot doesn't stock this item in store.

Online only, and delivered to your house or local HD. I opted for store pick-up so I can examine the box before taking delivery.

And you're right, their products seem to be hit or miss. I'm one of the lucky ones that got one built on a Monday or Tuesday morning.

Anyone running a budget-friendly horizontal band saw?

Thinking I'd prefer that over a cold saw such as the Evo I had been considering.

You might think about drilling a piece of flat bar or angle to go under your bench. Then lock washer/nut or nyloc. Nice press!

It's funny you say that because I told myself I should do that. In fact I just got done working on my car so I can do that in just a bit.

shop.jpg Just had this built. Its 20'x30'x9' walls sitting on a 21'31'x6" slab. Its taken a long time to reach this point and im trying to do it right. So far ive sealed the walls to keep the rain from seeping in under them, next ill paint the floor with Lowes Utility gray Porch and Floor Paint which ive used before and found to be tough.
I wont bore yall with all my 'grand' plans any more.

What drill press are you guys running? I would like one for metal/wood/stone. I used to have a really shitty little 8 inch model but sold it years ago and just want something nicer, that will last. Bigger motor. More durable. Variable speed. Etc. Recommendations?

I went to HF today and looked at their upper end drill presses and I’m skeptical.

Yes one drill press. Preferably would like to go off more than a single opinion. Especially a drill press with “mixed reviews.” I’m more of a buy once cry once kinda guy. I’d rather get something nice that will last rather than a shit on I have to replace after a while or return cause shitty quality control.

    @Pablo8

Wen 4214, with a keyless chuck as shown above.

As mentioned, yeah it's got some conflicting reviews but the majority have had great success (myself included).

Since switching the chuck, I notice far less visible runout too after having used it a few times.

If you buy once cry once, HF is definitely not where I would've gone shopping.

Jet's more premium models are really nice and would've been my choice if I was more than just a hobbyist welder.

That said, I've used HF as well as old school Delta's and nice Jet drill presses and will say the WEN I bought felt far better than any HF model I've seen/used.
