There are definitely knock off ones. But if you can't tell the difference, then nobody else will either lol

This is what the OEM trd pro skid looks like on my tacoma

For reference, one of the popular chinesium plates has a subtle difference from yours.

    upload_2022-8-8_7-20-12.jpg

The ears on the fake one are symmetrical, on the real one the passenger side is notched a hair lower than the drivers.

That's not to say that all fake plates are like that, but the popular one that's on Amazon is like that.

I installed the fake one on my truck. :anonymous::anonymous:

    I think that's a replica...

Is the TRD embossed in the plate?

I also find it odd that the hardware for the front 4 bolts are not retained to the plate, with the spacers.

the authentic ones have all the bolts and spacers assembled and suspended with rubber bands, it's nearly impossible to remove the 4 front bolts from the plate

Looks like a replica, here is where I see a difference with an oem one (jack point).

Seller admits these and other parts they are selling are knockoffs. The bolt kit is there with plastic type locking rings that hold the bolts and spaces in place. Here is a picture of the backside. Hopefully get the time to install it tomorrow 20220809_154834.jpg

Pretty sure I bought mine from the same guy. I was fine with it being a knock off.. it is still a 6mm sheet of formed aluminum. I had to clearance two holes to make it fit.

I also had plans to modify it so the cheaper one made more sense than the factory one...

    I painted mine satin black...20220418_094213.jpg

Yes I didn't have to clearance any but I probably should have as it was a tight fit but definitely happy for the price. My truck is white so the color skid looks good on it

I was looking at one at the dealer and was ready to buy it. But then I got a good look at the welds. Gezz they were horrible.
Looked like a 10yo did them.
