When was Trd Sport first introduced?

Friend is looking at a 2000 Tacoma, and it has Trd Sport decals on the bedsides.
I know there was an Off Road at the time, just curious if there were Sports in 2000 as well.

Its 2wd, V6 , ext cab . Don’t have the vin from the seller yet, but any info would be helpful .

 

05 was the first sport.

prior there was pre runners, sr5 , s runner, limited, Trd off-road. Etc

the 00 he’s looking at just has decals.

Check for rust underneath.

 

Toyota had an S-Runner in the 1st Gen.
I suppose that’s as close to a Sport as they made back then.

 

No such thing as a 'Sport' 1st Gen.

Need to remember how old these trucks are, and that anyone can slap a decal on anything.

 

I have seen bedside decals on 1st gen Taco's that said "TRD Sport Off Road"

That means you can slap any stick you want on it, but that doesn't make it true. Get the VIN and do proper research, oh...and inspect that thing for rust. Check and re-check.

 

If there's a sport sticker on a first gen, it better have a goddam skewp

but there is nothing wrong with history...even though it wasn't asked.
