Thank you very much for this post _ must've spent over 3 hours researching wheel studs. I just got aftermarket wheels that won't allow ET lug nuts and was only getting 6 turns per lug which made me uncomfortable. I did some measurements and needed an extra 1/2" of threads and believe these wheel studs is what I'll need (ordered (3) 10 packs from Wal Mart.com for $85). When installing these wheel studs, did you have to drill a hole in the dust shield to get them in vs the stock Tacoma wheel studs at 40mm? Also the rear drum brake area - any drilling into the backer plate or can they be maneuvered into the hub holes easily before the splines are pulled into place?

Well, when I posted this (almost 10 years ago!) I just put them on the front and they slid right in, I also have a 4runner (which uses the same sized studs and front setup). I don't have the same rear setup as the 4runner has disk brakes, but I did not have any issues, just needed to remove the parking brake to slide the studs in. I have since gone to ARP studs which are even longer, and stronger, in both the front and rear.

Bad news & Good News. The good news is that the front studs went in easily to the hubs and I have 13 turns of lugnut engagement which is perfect (compared to 6)! The bad news: the rear hubs would not allow these matrix studs to go through the opening. Went to Napa, OReillys (whom were helpful) and Autozone and nobody stocked anything that would work. So I ended up ordering these from WheelAdapter.com which they say is 1/2" longer and fits IS300, Tacoma and older Tundras.

So now the wait for the UPS man again. At least the heaviest part of the truck (front) has been resolved.

I'm glad this post was resurrected cause I'm in the same boat, I think. I have a 2022 Tacoma SR with the crappy stock 16" wheels & tires. I was able to score a set of 2022 Tundra 18" alloy wheels, 6 lug, with Bridgestone Dueler HT 265/70R18s (see attached). I bought a set of M12x1.5 1.87" mag lug nuts & the wheel studs aren't even close to being long enough. The measured wheel thickness of the 18" alloys appears to be 9/16". Should I get the extended wheel studs from www.wheeladapter.com, the Dorman 610-463s or something else? Thanks in advance.

I'm not too familiar with Tundra wheels and the setup Toyota implements on them. I would do a test fit of these wheels on your truck and count how many turns of the lug nut you are getting. If its less than 8, I would get slightly longer wheel studs. You will also need to know the depth of your lugnuts you will be using as you don't want to bottom out the lug nuts which would not seat the wheels correctly.

Thanks to Malatx for a response on another thread, the 2022 Tundra wheels moved to the 6 lug x 139mm format but the center hub is only 95mm wide, not the 106mm the Tacoma uses. Long story short, I can't use the Tundra wheels on the Tacoma because of the hub diameter. I had a local shop look up other trucks which use the same lug pattern & hub width & it looks like the 2022 Tundra is the ONLY one. I'm sure there are some trucks out there with the same lug pattern & a <95mm hub which can use a spacer but the market for these 2022 18" Tundra alloys is limited. Thanks again for the help.
