Exactly! That 55/45 stat is kind of pointless without this next level detail.

We’ve needed to make a small claim on ours for two years and haven’t… we’ll because I don’t know how and it’s minor. I’ve been too lazy to look into it.

I didn't purchase the premium plan , but I did get the plan that covers the electronics since it's got so many sensors and radars.

As picky as Toyota is about warranting a battery, I’d say their was definitely a problem.
That’s is, unless the Toyota extended warranty isn’t really sold by Toyota?

Having worked in F&I ages ago, I wouldn't sell an aftermarket warranty to my worst enemy. If you're not going to buy the top of the line warranty from the manufacturer, then don't buy anything.

People would often ask me, "Is it worth it?" The truthful answer is, "I don't know, there's no way of knowing if or when things will break on your car." It's really just about peace of mind. For some people it makes sense, for others it does not.

My current 2010 Tacoma had a boatload of stuff fail after 100k and before 125k, and would have easily paid for an extended warranty several times over. With the new electronics on the newer ones, if I could get a 125k mile warranty for under $2k, I'd probably buy it.

Comes down to your comfort level. If you think a $3000 repair will force you have to choose between getting the car fixed or buying food, then you should by all means get the extended warrantee.

But consider this. You already have a 36m/36000 mile bumper to bumper and a 60m/60000 mile powertrain warrantee. So when dealer ask if you want the extended warrantee then he is selling you something today that has zero value for the first 3 years of ownership and partial value for next 2 years after that. And if you chose to finance the vehicle, you will pay 3 years of interest on something that has no value during that time, meanwhile Toyota is collecting your monthly payment for the extended warrantee and invested it in other loans so they are collecting double interest on your money.

If it is true that you can extend the warrantee anytime in the first 36 months from Toyota, then best thing to do is put $50-$100 into the bank each month and at month 35, shop around different dealers to get best price and buy it then.

This entire thread is full of subjective opinions, including yours above... VALUE is highly subjective... No matter how hard you try quantify it... Just saying... You've heard the saying "one man's trash, is another man's treasure"

You're absolutely welcome! (And see there's another subjective opinion on your part!)

Old saying, If it's got tits or tires sooner or later you will have problems with it. I've bought several extended warranties some I've use some I haven't
I'm probably slightly underwater or even.
