53B1D690-C1C0-4684-A430-8A46D0E68DF1.jpg I recently bought 2019 TRD pro and after some time I notice blue smoke on a startup! No warranty as it has 82k miles on it.

my concern now is What is the best way to fix it for less?
Is it gonna be bad day by day?

what would you do if you were in my shoes?

    thanks
I just added some screen shots and I couldn’t able to upload a video.

Severity depends on the cause and also the oil consumption. The two most likely things in my mind would be either a stuck PCV valve causing it to suck oil into the intake or valve seals that are going bad and allowing oil to be combusted. The first one should be an easy fix, the other would require the head to be pulled and rebuilt. I will say that if it’s only on cold starts, that’s usually more strongly associated with valve seals going bad.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
First off, I probably wouldn't have bought it had I seen the start-up puff of blue exhaust.
That said, I'd monitor oil level religiously between changes. If it stays within range and you don't have to add oil, you're probably okay.
If you have to add oil more than once between changes, I'd be looking for a way to move on to a newer, better treated Taco.

Bummer to have to deal with this on 3 year old Tacoma but I would take it to a reputable shop and have them do a compression and leak down test immediately. This will help you pin point where you may have a possible leak and the overall health of your engine. Best of luck my friend!

I jump on the seat and push start it, and it sounded nice, I had sold my 2004 taco manual transmission on the same day for 17k with 98k miles on it. I didn’t look if it was having blue smoke lol. I did it it sounded right. Now I miss my 04 taco. I need help guys.

Again, totally depends on how bad you’re burning oil. If it turns out to be a major issue such as burnt rings or a leaking valve seal you should just sell it as you likely wouldn’t lose any money.

Change the oil and install a Toyota Filter, try again and see if you get smoke. Mine at 160k smokes when I let the oil get low

Damn 98k miles on a 1st gen! Should have kept it, would outlast that piece of shit 3.5L that you acquired. Good luck.

Wouldn’t a cylinder pressure test help ID the issue of valve seals? I’d have that done to see if any of them are very far off from the others.

This, and a good shop can do valve seals without pulling the heads by air chucking cylinders to keep the valves up.

No, probably not. The oil seal on a valve stem and the valve face to seat seal are not the same thing. A worn guide could allow both to leak but there would be other problems, too.

I wonder what the previous owners maintenance was like. Do you have records of that? If the oil was never changed (which is entirely possible), you could have sludge on the top of the heads causing the seals to leak. I have never heard of a valve seal going 'bad' on a 3.5. If it only smokes on start up it is either the valve seal(s) or PCV system. I would get the engine looked at by a good mechanic. Check oil pressure too.

Sue Toyota? Why? Did they sell you the Taco?
You bought it - apparently with your eyes closed.

Did you talk to the dealer you bought it from? Most states require a short warranty on used cars.

It's hard to tell in the pics but are you sure it's blue smoke? If it's burning oil it will have a distinct smell. It could just be normal condensation burning off the exhaust.

Where did you buy it? Reputable dealer, private party? Because if it's a dealer that is worth a shit I'd take it back. There have been plenty of threads on here about smoke on startup and they weren't good.

Yeah. I wouldn't over react about it. Like someone mentioned change the oil and filter. Get it out on the highway and run the snot out of it.
Already been some things mentioned to look at too. I think that I've seen our Tacomas have a puff or two and it never concerned me.
